TV show description:
This dramatic series follows the story of an unassuming American family that’s drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation.
Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner) is the youngest son of a war-torn country’s controversial dictator. He returns to his homeland for his nephew’s wedding after a self-imposed 20-year exile in America. Upon his return, Barry is immediately thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth.
He braces himself to confront the stark realities of his father and older brother Jamal’s (Ashraf Barhom) harsh rule, and finds himself at odds with Jamal’s wife, Leila (Moran Atias). She believes strongly in a firm, unforgiving regime.
Although Barry’s wife Molly (Jennifer Finnigan) struggles to comprehend her husband’s apprehension, Barry is unable and unwilling to make his all-American family understand his unease over returning home.
Emma (Anne Winters), their 17-year-old daughter, adores her father and shares his disdain for the extravagances of her extended family. Meanwhile, their son, 16-year-old Sammy (Noah Silver), revels in the lavish lifestyle that their “royal” status brings. He also dangerously tests cultural divides with his poorly disguised interest in the family’s handsome bodyguard, Abdul (Mehdi Dehbi).
Barry’s only warm memory of his childhood — his boyhood friend Fauzi (Fares Fares) — wants nothing to do with him. Fauzi is now a journalist, whose reports on the abuses of the Al-Fayeed rule resulted in his arrest and torture.
Now, Barry must now confront the life he once fled. With his father’s health in decline, everyone — Jamal, their mother Amira (Alice Krige), their father’s top advisor Yussef (Salim Daw), and even easygoing US diplomat John Tucker (Justin Kirk) — expects him to assume a more active role in both the family and the regime.
Episode #32 — Two Graves
Barry and Molly are on the brink of waging war on the Caliphate. Leila makes a bold political move and braves the possibility of a close betrayal. Barry and Daliyah face a final reckoning in their relationship. The conflict in Abuddin threatens to turn into a bloody civil war.
First aired: September 7, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Tyrant TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourthseason?
Please bring Tyrant back!!!!
I can’t believe this fantastic series is cancelled. Why? It had a great story line, the actors are fabulous. Please bring this series back!
It was a good show definitely should have continued
Of course you would cancel this series; it had a unique storyline, the writers gave us believable dialogue, and the characters had depth.
Not surprised………although if you had a little more consideration for your viewers you would have wrapped up the story with a final season.
You’re never gonna compete that way FX……….
Never fails whenever there is a good show on any channel it gets cancelled.
I was so looking forward to the 4th season. I love the show, it is a lot like what is happening in the Middle East, in real time. Everyone who left a comment was right, you take off the good shows….bring it back
Thought it was a great TV Series. Why end it without any resolution? Doesn’t make for making loyal followers of future FX shows.
So typical and they wonder why they are losing viewers. Please bring it back or at least bring it back to give a proper ending.
Oh course every great show gets canceled .They need to bring Tyrant back and at least finish it. Tyrant was such a great show and very well written listen to the people and bring the show back. Stop ending great shows just because it goes from a 9-10 rating to a 8. It’s not like it went down to 2 of worse . Tyrant Tyrant Tyrant. FX is a Tyrant for doing this to the shows fans. Your know better . FX lost a viewer unless they bring back the show. Michael.
That show was so good it shouldn’t never been canceled will never know the ending you take it away from someone who enjoys watching it every season
No it should not be. Just cause it gets low ratings you choose to take it away from someone who enjoys the show. If it ends, we will never know how the outcome will be, NOT RIGHT!!!
I loved the show & am very sorry to hear that it was cancelled!!!
Just. Like “The Bastar d Executioner” you leave us empty! So cruel to end the series because the writers don’t have the balls to end the series naturally instead of leaving us “Hanging” like typical Terrorists!
End the series with a final season.
Here we go again…we, the fans of Tyrant had to beg for season 2 to happen, then season 3, and now…season 4. Please FX finish what you started and give us a last season where everything wraps up and we all get a decent, satisfying conclusion to the story. Please don’t tell me that whatever passes for PC culture today has had such an impact on your portrayal of a fictional Middle East country that you would cowardly just “not go there”. This is a made-up story – playing in a real world scenario, yes – but nevertheless fiction! Once… Read more »
