It turns out that Unforgettable didn’t live up to its name. CBS has cancelled the police drama after one season on the air.
The TV series revolves around Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a female police detective with an unusually detailed memory (hyperthymesia) that helps her solve crimes. The cast also includes Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin, and Daya Vaidya.
Unforgettable started out the season with a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.09 million total viewers. Over the course of the season, the drama’s ratings declined. At the end of the season, they fell as low as a 1.8 demo rating with 9.45 million viewers.

The season ended up averaging a 2.3 rating in the demo with 11.3 million viewers. While the total number of viewers is impressive, the demo number (and its decline) is not. CBS already has several other shows that deliver lots of viewers but the advertisers gravitate towards the younger demo.
On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Unforgettable has a “C-” grade and is #15 on the list of CBS scripted shows.
If CBS wasn’t doing as well as they are, Unforgettable might have been renewed for a second season but, as it is, CBS cancelled the show instead.
What do you think? Are you going to miss Unforgettable? What made it unique? How does it compare to the other crime dramas on the network?
yet another of my tuesday night shows they’ve cancelled I can’t believe this one either unforgettable was a good show but america just wants stupid teen dramas and dumb reality shows
I’m actually gutted about this, i thought it was the best new show around and it had great potential, not only that it was starkly different to anything else on tv. Maybe it’s because i’m english, and only 17, but I can honestly say it was brilliant and Poppy Montgomery as the lead was excellent.
CBS your idiots!
I looked forward to this show every week. It was a great story line and if we’re left not knowing who killed her sister it will really leave us wondering. I think if they want to cancel a show they should at least do a good ending and let the viewers at least have a good ending.
Unforgettable should not be cancelled. It was one of the bright spots of
this last season.
I don’t think Unforgettable should be cancelled, it is a good show that is different from all of the other shows that are out there now. Why is it that they are quick to cancel the good shows? I hope they change their mind.
I liked the show was different because she could remember things at a crime scene no other police show have done this before she could also kick butts
It is too bad about this show. I really enjoyed it. It is one of a handful of shows I record that I watch the next day. Though I am more upset the Rob was cancelled by CBS, but I can’t find a news item for it being cancelled, so I will just mention it here.
Sorry for the my error, fox is not the web site it is CBS they are both idiots
The networks only care about themselves and their bottom lines. I understand they are in business to make money, but we that help them make money are screwed. If we don’t fit the right demo it doesn’t matter to them. Like your article said “Unforgettable” was good enough to stay but the demo that they were looking for was down. I guess we the older demo who can spend also will have to learn to boycott many of CBS’s advertisers. I surely will! I think it is time for the TV viewers to have some say if a show is… Read more »
I thought it was a decent show with adult relationships. The issue of her sister’s murder always being on her mind was tiresome. I wanted to her and the team solve real-time murders. And the part of a killer wanting the main character was not believeable at all.
I am beyond upset when I discovered Unforgettable is cancelled. This show was different because Poppy brought something to the table that other shows lacked. The whole cast was a pleasure to watch each week. Most times I was unable to watch the episodes every week because of the timeslot, and I am busy with school and everything else, however; it does not mean I did not DVR every week, every episode to watch more than once. I loved this show and I was so looking forward to the next season and to purchase the seasons on DVD. I am… Read more »
I can’t believe they have cancelled this show. Finally, something fresh and different and they have to toss it out. I hate getting sucked in to a show and then never see how the characters play out. This show was never given a real chance.
Big Mistake CBS!!! The show was well written and acted…sure the premise was a bit far-fetched but c’mon..take a look at the movie box office lately..if you’re not a super hero..you’re not bringing in audience…and carrie Wells was kind of a mondern day super hero..with power of memory retention..that made it unique..in fact..maybe that’s how CBS could have “remarketed” this show. It had big potential…Hey NBC… you would love the ratings unforgettable was pulling down (if not to CBS’ standards)..look at picking up the show..re-market it as a supernatural/super hero mystery/thriller..and run with it..look at the numbers it was pulling… Read more »
I will miss this show a lot. really think they made a mistake cancelling this
I can’t believe they are cancelling this. She finally gets somewhere on her sister’s murder and they are done? Theyre just going to leave us hanging?
There are so few quality shows on TV, that when there is one that keeps your intestest and then is cancelled, you begin to wonder which dunberhead is making these decisions. It must be the one that lets show like likeUnforgettable be passed over for some “really challenging shows like reality shows or Dancing with the Stars (how many “stars” have you recongnized?). This season, the few shows I do watch will be on other networks. Kudos to the wonderful actors in the show.
