Things are not going well for Lori Loughlin. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hallmark has severed all ties with the When Calls the Heart co-star following her arrest.
Earlier this week, Loughlin was arrested by the FBI after being accused of participating in a nation-wide college admissions scheme. The Full House star has been a cast member of Hallmark’s hit series When Calls the Heart since its debut in 2014. Additionally, she stars in the network’s film series Garage Sale Mysteries.
Hallmark Channel released a public statement announcing their separation with Loughlin. The network doesn’t specify if they’ll continue to air the current season of When Calls the Heart but it seems likely that they will. If Heart is renewed for a seventh season, it appears that Loughlin’s Abigail Stanton character will not be a part of it.
Here’s the statement:
We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production.”
Update: A Hallmark spokesperson tells us that When Calls the Heart has been pulled from the March 17th schedule. Will future episodes air? “We are evaluating all creative options related to When Calls the Heart series.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of When Calls the Heart? Will you keep watching the Hallmark series? Does Loughlin’s arrest affect your feelings about her or the shows she’s on?
I hate what Loughlin’s dealings have done to the shows on Hallmark, but I really think the channel should go ahead and finishing airing the rest of season 6 of When Calls the Heart. The world knows what has happened and there is nothing we can do about it. It is my opinion that the show keep the character and replace her with someone else. I just don’t think it would possible to just “write” or “kill off” the character and continue on without her. It was bad enough when Jack was killed off. That broke my heart. I love… Read more »
Please do not cancel the show, replace here with another character, soo look forward to future episodes
This is a heart-warming family program and to “punish” fans by removing this program is just not right. What about the other actors tht are part of this show- should they be punished too? Not right. Air the remaining season then if you must write Lori L. out of future seasons. The show can survive without her.
IF Lori is guilty I would be disappointed, however people sometime do dumb things for their children. I have no doubt that politicians have done as much or more for their children. Besides we don’t expect Hollywood elite to be perfect in the first place. If you want to get rid of Lori, do like the soaps. Just replace her with another actress. It’s been done on several shows. Elizabeth and most of the other characters from the When Calls The Heart movie were replaced for the series! Anyway there are too few good shows coming from Hollywood now so… Read more »
Agreed, folks with money “buy” their kids way into colleges daily. I think Lori’s mistake was not purchasing a building for the campus, the trustees love that and more than willing to accept the monies without screaming “bribe”. The whole thing is crap and putting everyone else involved in her shows out of work is ludicrous. Lori didn’t sexually assault anyone, she attempted to buy an education for her kid, Hallmark and everyone else needs to get over it
To Hallmark: I totally understand your position even though I personally believe that you acted rashly and a little too quickly. I don’t condone what Ms. Loughlin has done but we haven’t heard her side of the story yet. Lori is a big part of WCTH and has been since day one. I have been a fan since day one. I did not think that WCTH could survive the departure of Daniel Lissing but it has (sorry Daniel). I think it would survive the departure of Lori Loughlin as sad as that would be. WCTH deserves to be saved. The… Read more »
Ouch….
I hope the series continues and am sorry that Lori will not be there. She was a great asset to the show. She made a huge mistake but it pales in comparison to the immoral lives that many actors and actresses lead. I wonder if the other 50 plus persons involved are fired from their jobs and publicly shamed nationwide.
I enjoyed Garage Sale mysteries very much – perhaps they could get someone to replace Lori Loughlin?
Great program displaying traditional Hallmark family values. Show Lori the door, find another actress to write into the script. Keep the theme going.
Me too! We are big fans of that show.
I have waited anxiously for WCTH to start back. It is the best family show on TV. Love all of the characters. It broke our heart when Daniel left, that was tough enough! But please don’t even put it on hold Sunday night. We are adults and can handle seeing Lori as one of the characters, knowing that she will be gone on later episodes. Make a statement at the beginning of the show, whatever. But, please let this season continue. It’s like evil is trying to attack this show because it is such a good, good family show. Don’t… Read more »
I would love to continue to see the rest of Season 6. Not fair to cut if off. But after that you can change actresses or whatever is necessary. It is good and interesting story and a quality production that it would be a shame to lose.
I think for the fans’ sake, the current season should be aired and then produce the subsequent season without her. We love the show, although I no longer care to see her. Fans shouldn’t be punished due to her wrongdoing.
They should air the rest of the season since it was already filmed and three episodes has already aired. And then figure out what to do for next season. I think they should still try for next season but in all honesty between this and losing another lead, this show is over.
Recast the character, as they do on soap operas. Someone like candace Cameron bure or any number of others currently starring in hallmark movies. Yes, the mayor is a main character, but it is the entire cast that pulls the show together.
I guess innocent until proven guilty no longer applies anymore. I’m sure they can find a creative way write her off, but pulling the series punishes everyone else who works on the series.
