Although it is known for its gritty modern series, with its new Will TV show, TNT is dipping a toe into the period drama genre. Despite being set in 16th century London, the cable network has promoted its young Shakespeare series — with a modern soundtrack — as an edgy peek at the past, through a contemporary lens. Will today’s audience tune in for a new look at the Bard of Avon? Will Will be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. At just 24 years of age, with no social or political advantages, Shakespeare is willing to risk everything in pursuit of his dreams. He dives headlong into the fast and treacherous world of Elizabethan theatre, trying to make it as a writer.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Will TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on TNT?
9/5 update: Will has been cancelled; there will be no season two on TNT. Details here.
Please renew for season 2!!! I don’t know what I’d do if the show ends for good after only 10 episodes… If TNT refuses, I’d be hoping for Netflix or another network to pick it up
Awesome show! Please renew!
TNT Please renew Will for a season 2!! This show is awesome and I would love to see what happens next. Also I love Mattias Inwood as Richard and I would love to see how his character develops in the next season! 🙂
I like the show and cast, but hate the torture scenes so have stopped watching. The torture seems out of place and gratuitous.
I absolutely love everything about this show. The actors, thevwriting, the costumes and music. Give it a chance to breathe TBT. It’s brilliant!!
Where there is a Will there must be a way! Please , please Renew !
I have always been in love with William Shakespeare and his novel and intriguing approach to writing. I have been teaching my young students all about the Bard; his history (what little is known about his life, etc.); his stories; how/where he lived in Stratford-UponAvon (marvelous article about all of this in a recent issue of Archaeology Magazine). My students/I enjoy reading the Plays; learning about how the Old English words translate so beautifully into the modern English language. We talk about how the stories, characters, situations which the Bard writes about are all so true/meaningful and true to life… Read more »
This is a great show–can’t believe it is a summer series when so many people are not watching tv! Give it a chance–and another run of 1st season in the fall. I do close my eyes during torture scenes (like my violence in the vein of Jane Austen).
Hamlet said, “Words, words, words….” I say, “Will, Will, Will… Truly fun and intriguing. Love this show. Laurie is great as the Bard. Keep this show going!”
Please do not cancel, give it a chance, it is one of the best, up there with Lost, Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul!! Great actors I want to see more of Laurie Davidson
Agreed!
@whoever I offended with my one-word comment: sorry
Please renew Will for a second season. Pretty please.
I LOVE WILL. Please do not cancel it. It is just getting started and is full of intrigue and I am loving Christopher Marlowe. Jamie Campbell Bower is such a superb actor and I hope you will develop this character more.
A TNT executive could literally break into my house and shoot me in the leg and I would still be tuning in at 9pm every Monday to watch this show because that’s how much I loved it.
I lasted about 15 minutes, then, click…delete!!
I enjoyed the show Will. The one fact I noticed was on captions on my TV. Ann was used instead of how Anne Hathaways name was used in all documents. I would have thought someone would have caught the mistake of the name Ann. The caption should have used Anne.
