Although it is known for its gritty modern series, with its new Will TV show, TNT is dipping a toe into the period drama genre. Despite being set in 16th century London, the cable network has promoted its young Shakespeare series — with a modern soundtrack — as an edgy peek at the past, through a contemporary lens. Will today’s audience tune in for a new look at the Bard of Avon? Will Will be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. At just 24 years of age, with no social or political advantages, Shakespeare is willing to risk everything in pursuit of his dreams. He dives headlong into the fast and treacherous world of Elizabethan theatre, trying to make it as a writer.

Will is a good show if you are a fan of Shakespeare style acting.The actors did a good job. To be honest tho, Shakespeare’s time was then not in our time and styles.
My husband and I have really enjoyed watching Will. You can tell that all of the actors and actresses put all that they can into the characters that they’re playing. Bravo!
I love the show Will. Even though largely fictitious I too am enthralled. Fantastic acting, believable script that illustrates the careful research and thought behind the characters, e.g. Topclift, and beautiful scenery/costumes. Please renew!

I AM OBSESSED. I was notoriously not a fan of William Shakespeare even though I received my Bachelors and Masters in Theatre. However, after watching this series, I have become obsessed with everything about him, his works, and those of his contemporaries. After binge watching the whole season in a couple of days, I am now setting up watching parties to re-watch them all again with friends and family. Stopped watching. Although I appreciate the fresh take on a historic figure and knowing that there is not much factual information about Shakespeare I feel that the high degree of eroticism only distracts from the core subject and somewhat unnecessary.
