After NBC’s worst season, it’s no surprise that the peacock network is shaking up their 2007-08 schedule. There’s also little surprise about which shows didn’t survive. Here’s what won’t be returning next season:
Andy Barker, P.I. – The Andy Richter comedy series ran for six episodes to poor ratings. NBC put the last two on Saturday night and it seemed like the sitcom was doomed before it began.
The Black Donnellys – The Paul Haggis series was pulled after six episodes and the remaining episodes have been made available on NBC’s site and iTunes.
Crossing Jordan – After six seasons on the air, Jordan has solved her last case. The series finale airs on Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
Grease: You’re The One That I Want – The ratings were a disappointment and seriously, how could they do another season anyway – fire the first years’ winners to make room for the second’s?
Identity – The Penn Jillette-hosted game show about contestants identifying strangers’ hobbies or occupations is finished after 12 episodes.
Raines – The quirky Jeff Goldblum detective show ran all seven episodes to poor ratings. It won’t be back.
The Real Wedding Crashers – The reality series that replaced Donnellys was pulled from the schedule after three episodes. NBC may air the remaining episodes during the summer.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The much-hyped Aaron Sorkin series didn’t live up to expectations. It will return on May 24th and hopefully NBC will air all six of the remaining episodes. A DVD release is likely.
Thank God You’re Here – The improv sketch show’s ratings were nothing to smile about so it’s been cancelled after seven episodes.
Twenty Good Years – This sitcom starred series veterans John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor, was pulled from the network schedule after just four episodes. It’s doubtful that the remaining episodes will air.
Returning in the fall are: 30 Rock, The Biggest Loser, Dateline, Deal or No Deal, ER, Friday Night Lights (moved to Fridays at 10pm), Heroes, Las Vegas, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, My Name is Earl, The Office, and Scrubs. Law & Order and Medium (moved to Sunday nights) will return mid-season (January 2008) or earlier.
The Apprentice was left off the Fall schedule but NBC and creator Mark Burnett are still in talks of bringing back the series in some form. Mark Burnett previously pledged to find another home for the reality show if NBC drops it.
The Friday night 8pm timeslot has been designated as “game night” and will consist of rotating reality or games shows. The Bob Saget-hosted series 1 vs. 100 will air for eight weeks initially.

Since NBC likes reality shows, maybe they should have one about NBC executives getting fired because of stupid moves, like getting rid of Crossing Jordan.
Crossing Jordan was the only show on any station that I made a point of being home to watch every week. I won’t watch reality shows, they have no point, no thought, no story. What were you thinking?
I will truely miss watching Crossing Jordan. Thanks alot NBC for taking it off the air. You people need a better person for putting together the line up for each season. The person/people you have right now suck and it appears that they really don’t have a clue of what the public likes.
I am sorry to learn that Raines has been cancelled, as well as The Real Wedding Crashers. Just knowing that we will get the entertainment of yet another stupid reality show is just wonderful. My family will be watching even more cable networks, than before. Way to go!!!!
Raines was never given a chance. My family loved this show. Just giving Jeff 6-7 shows??? Give it a chance. What a good Idea for a show. I started watching LIFE today. Raines has shows like this one beat. Everybody loves Jeff.
Studio 60..NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Who in the world decided to cancel this show??? It was clever, comical, and completely engaging!! Bring it back…hurry…I am in shock right now…
I hate to see Crossing Jordan go. I loved that show and never missed an episode. They need to get rid of half of the reality tv shows. 90% of them suck. Bring back Crossing Jordan. I do watch Law & Order and Law & Order SVU. Maybe NBC will see these post and realize that they have canceled some of the wrong shows. BRING BACK CROSSING JORDAN. About raines I have no idea. I have never seen it.
there is only one word to describe nbc’s decision for cancelling crossing jordan….and that word is STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!! crossing jordan is like the best show ever!!i’ve been watching it since the start and i miss it soooooooo much!!!!i think its so stupid to cancel good shows like crossing jordan and for what? dumb reality shows?? well nbc let me tell you something people watch tv to escape reality not see it when they turn on the tv!! the whole point of tv is to sit, relax and watch your favourte shows and just for a while forget about reality. and reality shows dont have as high ratings as you think they have. so BRING BACK CROSSING JORDAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This show has some character and shows how people can care for each other under very stressful situations. The on screen people are a family who pull for each other. The program shows how one can still have heart while working under such harsh circumstances. To take a show off the air that is working is hard to understand especially if you compare with CSI-Miami which has such high ratings. That show no one cares for the other one and it shows clearly. The plots on that show are dull because of the lack of personal charisma. Leave a show on the air that is working and has a following.
Where is Law & Order? What/s The matter with you people at NBC? Criminal Intent is now on USA. SVU is back on Tuesday nights. Where the hell is Regular Law and Order? I’m waiting. I need an answer.

Of all things…you cancelled Raines and Studio 60? The two most intelligent shows on NBC? Even my wife was hooked and she hates dramas. Is it possible the execs at NBC have “brain damage?” Back to CBS!
