ABC 2013-14 Season Ratings

abc-tv-shows-ratingsThe alphabet network hasn’t had much luck launching successful new shows. What’s more, a lot of their existing shows are down year-to-year. Thankfully, the execs can’t cancel everything.

ABC shows (so far): 20/20, 20/20 Saturday, America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Assets, The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, The Bachelorette, Back in the Game, Betrayal, Black Box, Castle, Celebrity Wife Swap, Dancing with the Stars, Extreme Weight Loss, The Goldbergs, The Great Christmas Light Fight, Grey’s Anatomy, Killer Women, Last Man Standing, Lucky 7, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Mind Games, Mistresses, Mixology, Modern Family, Motive, Nashville, The Neighbors, Nightline Prime, NY Med, Once Upon a Time, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Primetime: What Would You Do?, The Quest, Resurrection, Revenge, Rising Star, Rookie Blue, Scandal, Shark Tank, Super Fun Night, The Taste, Trophy Wife, and Wipeout.

Note: Here are the ratings for the 2015-15 season shows.

There’s lots of data that ABC execs looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient.

Check other networks’ rankings:
CBS | The CW | FOX | NBC | ABC Family | TNT

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.

Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.

Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.

The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.

What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?

By checking out you tube I found a trailer of Betrayal and considered it as very interesting. I´m anyway into american sopes and so I started watching and surprisingly I couldn´t get off of my PC. The situations the characters have to face are so realistic whithout beeing pathetic and I could relate to them. Please don´t cancel this show. There are much more international viewers so maybe you should check out the rating in the net either. I hope, I get to know who Sara has decided for (please Jack!).

I love Betrayal. I am shocked at the ratings. Just when the plot was getting good, there is talk of cancelling. I already had another network cancel another show I got into this past season. Please don’t cancel Betrayal!

Wow, I’m sorry to betray you all by saying this but I think once upon a time in wonderland is the show that should definitely be doing better. It’s freaking AWESOME!!! It’s getting all this hate for no reason, the weighting is great, the actors are great, the story line is great, so I don’t see the problem!

I used to watch abc on the app but now that you have to verify to watch I don’t watch anymore. I think ABC will continue to decline because of the changes this year.

I need Betrayal!!! Come on! It should have more viewers. I want them to make season two. They left a window open, they need to…

Please, Do not cancel Betrayal!!!! I could hardly wait from Sunday to Sunday. Then you would leave it off for a couple of weeks making it horrible to wait! Please give it more time and do some good advertising to get a bigger audience. Great actors and great story! We relate!

ABC has a bad track record of cancelling shows before they even give them time to work. I try not to watch any more new shows so I haven’t seen Killer Women or Mind Games because I get sick and tired of getting interested in a show and then it is gone. I do love Betrayal so please renew it again so we can find out who Sara chose. CBS is my favorite network for great shows.
