Though the ratings weren’t very good in the first season, ABC renewed American Crime for a second season. Though it will feature new characters and a new story, several of the actors have returned. Will the show’s small audience return? Will the ratings grow? Will American Crime be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
On the second season of American Crime, a male public high school student accuses members of a championship basketball team from a private school of sexually assaulting him at a school party. He alleges they photos of the incident and posted the images online. The cast includes Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Caitlin Gerard, Benito Martinez, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco, Johnny Ortiz, Lili Taylor, Trevor Jackson, Connor Jessup, Joey Pollari, Angelique Rivera, and Regina King.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/10 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of American Crime averaged a 1.16 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the American Crime TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a third season?
I love American crime. The story lines are real and portrayed immaculately. Unfortunately cable company”s dictate what you can watch with packages and separate companies making you pay more money.
This is an important show. It tackles a complex subject with nuanced writing and superb acting. It’s a show for thoughtful adults. I’m surprised it is on broadcast TV instead of one of the prestige cable stations. Bravo to ABC for running it, and kudos to John Ridley for conceiving it; I’m lookoIng forward to a third season.
Can’t believe this is a network drama. Plays like HBO or SHOWTIME. Great writing, directing and acting. In our top three shows. Please renew.
One of the best dramas currently on Network TV. After watching this season I was actually a bit shocked that ABC was producing this, but grateful that they are. It’s sad that the rating here are so low – but it just goes to show the mentality of middle America. A great show – Kudos to ABC, cast, and crew.
Undisputedly, the best program on network television if you value intelligence, great acting and a rich story line. Not for those with short or non-existent attention spans. I’m not a devout TV junkie so it takes something rather spectacular to get me to even watch. The last program of this caliber that I had an aid interest in was ‘Southland’ (alas cancelled). I truly hope the studio heads will green light a 3rd season of ‘American Crime’.
Great show and cast. Each season keeps getting better and better.
Great show and cast. Each season gets better and better.
hate it, poorly written, plodding pacing, should have been a 3 hr movies, not dragged out. Ridley should stick to film. Yank and retool the second half of season. Then bring back Blood and OiL and Nashville!
Excellent subject! Well written and excellent acting.
This program was awful last year & you still renewed it? ABC you’re as stupid w/your programming as you ever were.
yeah… the huge amount of accolades, mega amount of praise… they shove have interviewed you for your obvious high ranking critic status.
