TV show description:
Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) is a fast-talking attorney from Colorado who received his degree from Columbia. When the State Bar Association finds out that he got it from Columbia the country and not Columbia the University, his license is suspended until he can get a real degree.
Hoping for a quick fix, Jeff goes to see his old friend and client, British Professor Ian Duncan (John Oliver) of Greendale Community College. Jeff helped Duncan with a DUI case and he hopes that the Professor will help make his return to school an easy ride.
While Jeff waits for Duncan to provide him with answers to every test, he forms a Spanish “study group” to get some private time with Britta (Gillian Jacobs), an attractive 28-year-old high school dropout who values honesty above all else (a problem for Jeff).
Unknown to Jeff, she invites Abed (Danny Pudi), a hyperactive pop culture junkie and their aquanitence from Spanish class. He further stymies Jeff’s plans by inviting others from their class. Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) has been divorced seven times, is a moist-towelette tycoon, and is ready to share his lifetime of wisdom. Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) is a very outspoken, middle-aged divorcee. Annie (Alison Brie) is a young and high-strung perfectionist while Troy (Donald Glover) is a former high school football star who wants to find a way to get out of doing his school work.
Jeff’s scheme falls apart and he gets kicked out of the group. Duncan also ends up refusing to give Jeff the answers that he’s looking for. The group lets him back in and Jeff’s true education begins (whether he likes it or not).
