Last Resort: What Did You Think of the Series Finale?

Last Resort series finaleThis evening, ABC airs the last episode of Last Resort — titled “Controlled Flight Into Terrain.” The network cancelled the Thursday night military drama after a short season of 13 episodes.

With low ratings, the writing was on the wall almost from the start. It was clear that Last Resort wouldn’t be getting a second season. Thankfully, ABC execs made their decision before the cast and crew had wrapped up filming, giving them time to change the 13th script and give fans some closure.

The cast and crew filmed the series finale in December and you can read some of their thoughts here.

If you missed the last episode, you can read about it.

Have you seen the series finale? What did you think of it? Are you satisfied that the show was given a proper ending?

Loved the show. The ending. Hurt my heart. Such a good show and they killed it with a horrible ending like that. Made no sense. But at least it was an ending. I’m gonna stop watching TV shows on free TV they always end them abruptly. Thanks a lot ABC. Not. Greg

It felt like the writers were way too caffeinated. They tried to throw four separate stories into one and wrecked the basic premise. Good acting with too fast a pace for the complexity of the plots and characters. I can’t imagine they were wanting to make this into a series. It was a two part movie or mini-series at best.

Great show. Great cast. Very disappointing ending. I had not missed a show and felt like this really had legs. It’s why cable is better than network they have the long view.

I am so sorry to hear that this show was canceled. This was by far my favorite drama of the season. I should have know it would be canceled because the networks have a knack of canceling the shows that I like. With that said I thought the finale was well done.

Once again, the network is canceling a show too soon.

My thoughts exactly. I watch very little series TV but when I start liking something it gets cancelled way too soon. A couple of years ago it was Chicago Code.

I loved this show. Thought it was very inventive. I think it could have gone longer with more intrigue. It seems that if it is not a sitcom it doesn’t last long. I can name numerous shows: Surface, Invasion, Terra Nova, Last Resort, Threshold, Otherworld, and I am sure I can think of others… oh and Ren never did find all 13 Treasures of Rule (only 8 of them in Pirates of Dark Water).

One of the best programs on TV in a very long time. Written with suspense, logic, and excitment. I am so disappointed. The cast was amazing especially Baugher. The program was put in an impossible time slot to be sucessful. Had it been given a chance it would have had much higher ratings.

this was the best show I have seen is years and they finally got all the elements together that is needed… the characters, the action, the suspense, the romance… not to mention the very talented cast…. and then cancelled?!?!?!? Why? Most shows start out slow… it takes some time to get the audience. BRING BACK THIS SHOW. Although I did see the didn’t actually blow up the whole sub… Marcus could have survived… just sayin lol

Not that it will make much difference now and not that this show which I thought was great is as good as the original Star Trek, but when Star Trek first ran, it had horrible ratings. It was cancelled, people complained, and then it was brought back. The rest is history. Execs should have given it more time. Cool plot with lots of D.C. corruption and treason. It had plenty of room to grow. One thing though about the show, the annunciation of words by the cast was horrible. My wife and I were always hitting the back key for the DVR to try and catch what was said.

I loved this show but not surprised ABC canceled it.
Just look at their declining ratings. They seem to have a knack in canceling good shows without giving them a good chance to succeed.

I very much enjoyed the series although I wasn’t sure how they could stretch it out much longer. What they did for a finale was well done! I’ll miss the show that I watched via DVR rather than in it’s time slot.

Great show. Hate it see it go off the air. I thought the ending was just right. I hadn’t read about the show being cancelled so the ending was a surprise. They ended the show with class.
