It looks like the story of the Sutton clan has come to an end. ABC Family has quietly decided to cancel Lincoln Heights after four seasons.
Lincoln Heights tells the story of Officer Eddie Sutton (Russell Hornsby) who moves his family back to his old neighborhood. Other castmembers include Erica Hubbard, Nikki Micheaux, Rhyon Brown, Mishon Ratliff, Robert Adamson, and Michael Reilly Burke.
The TV show debuted on January 8, 2007 and the first season was successful enough to warrant a renewal by March. At that point, it was one of the cable channel’s higher performers in the key demographics.
While announcing that the second season would kick off in September 2007, ABC Family President Paul Lee said, “We really think we have something unique here… The fact that it’s an African American family drama alone separates it from the crowd, but its terrific cast and superb writing also make it truly special and perfect for ABC Family.”

Following season two, it took several months for ABC Family to decide to bring Lincoln Heights back for a third round. They finally did and that kicked off in September 2008. The audience grew and the show became the cable channel’s top performer among Females 12-34 and Female teens. It didn’t take as long to renew the series for year four.
Season four kicked off in September 2009. It ended up being one of the channel’s weaker programs of 2009, being outperformed by other ABC Family shows, including cancelled Kyle XY.
No specific reason was given for the Lincoln Heights cancellation. However, though it’s been favored by some critics, the series has never been a big hit for the cable channel and has only been given 10 episode renewals each season.

yes it was on of my favorite shows and they cancelled it in like the middle of things!! you just cant do that !! im very upset
I believe that it is crazy to take away this show. I have been watching it since season One and abosolutely adore it. I believe that it shows a lot more of the good in more dominantely black communities. and how alot of bad people still have a good side,\. An dno matter what you went throughyou can still survive and also help others to survive. Excellent show. Hope it returns.
I am highly upset that they cancelled the season.I was looking forward toward the next season to start. The show had great meaning and positives messages,so I believe that they took away the wrong show..

how dare they cancel the show. the show showed a lot of things happening in real life. abc family is utterly ridiculous for getting rid of a show when teenagers can relate to it. i truly hope that they bring the show back. cause it was way better the secret life… yes i kno teens relate to that too. but i thought lincolin heights was way better. it wasnt just about teens getting pregnant. it was about pregnancy, violence, bullying, racism, love, and family. everything that is important and happening today. please bring the show back.

i’m almost sadden and to upset to leave a comment. i will anyway. it was a good show that didn’t follow anybody else strip it had it’s on. i will be sad to see you go and will always wonder what would have came next . it not good to follow a story line from the begginning and be left with unanswered questions from how the season left off. i was waiting to see it in the line up. i love yall . cassie ,lizzie, tay sutton brilliant actors. tay sutton i lov your music and will continue to listen for new songs. mom and dad team i mean a team on all decisions. even when there was another kid was threw in the mix ,the typical baby but still love for the child. your was atypical and real sister got her straight and let her know her place and that it was not equal to her son.. how you both made it happen when the other was out of work you stuck by each other. acoholic parent. the how drama was so real and down to earth. the teen sex issues,the girlfriend isssues. how the drama and pressures of school is. yall hit real issues and made it a great show. maybe some will pick you up. or at take the great writers and actors another chance to have a great show to be a part of. luv all the cast and writers. i could go in great detail but i wont . yall had me hooked since first season

Searched to find the season premiere and well I guess I can sadly stop looking. Great show. I guess there is no hope of someone else picking it up.
I can’t believe it. The show at least should have a series finale to give us an ending. This show was great to watch with your family. I think you should rethink this. The show was one of your top shows for the last 3 seasaons now give the show an opportunity to revive itself. shame of this network. Here is one person that will no longer watch. I hope others join me…
Why did ABC take this show off? I don’t hardly watch anything on this station as it is because it’s all geared to teenagers. But Licoln Heights crossed all ages, and a whole lot more. How come no one new this was coming? I know the actors didn’t know either becuase I saw a talk show that two of them were on and it was never mentioned. A matter of fact the talk show promoted the show. ABC I believe you made a big mistake. BRING THE SHOW BACK…….so the rest of us have something to watch. You just lost yourself a viewer. Do you care?
I am sooooooooooo disappointed that this series has been cancelled. It was a great show with a great cast and carried a positive and motivating message that encouraged family, love and community. It never received the recognition I believe it deserved and it could have been promoted more effectively. To the cast, you made a lasting impression on my life and thank you all.

I enjoyed this show and what it was about. It shows hope in the black community. Because that’s what we need. Not just all black men doing drugs on killing each other but a family showing and giving love to each other and sharing that love with friends and other family members. Also showing how this show is gives back to the community can change others thinking, as you veiw the show. So I ask the network to please think about bring this show back for at lease one year.
