Thanks for visiting TV Series Finale, our little spot on the Internet. We hope you enjoy your stay and find it useful.
This site began in 2005 as a website devoted to the last episodes of television shows. What we quickly found is that people also wanted to know IF their favorite shows had been cancelled or were ending. This led to a larger focus on cancellations and, by extension, TV show renewals.
The best way to tell if a show will be cancelled is to track the Nielsen ratings. While times are changing quickly, most networks still make the bulk of their income from people watching TV commercials on the night they aired — so the ratings play a big role in their decisions (higher ratings means more money to make new episodes). We’ve tracked the ratings for years but now post that data so that readers can follow along and get an idea if their shows will be cancelled.
Here’s what we have to offer:
News — Articles primarily focused on TV show cancellations and renewals. Civil and respectful comments/discussions are welcomed. We try to keep this site family friendly.
Cancelled or Renewed? — Articles centered specifically around series cancellations and renewals.
Cancelled TV shows lists — These pages list cancelled series, organized by the season when they last aired.
TV Show Status Pages — These are pages that track all recent/current/upcoming network primetime series plus the comedies/dramas on cable and streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, etc. — more than 500 shows! Here, you can find a show’s current season, number of episodes (linked to the ratings, if available), the show’s cancellation/renewal status, and a start date for the new season if available.
All Ratings — All of the ratings we have to show you, from the most recent to the oldest.
Daily Network Ratings — Fast affiliate ratings for the five broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, and NBC). These are reported seven days a week, typically before 11:30am EST.
TV Show Ratings (grouped by season/channel) — Listings of TV show ratings season averages, grouped by channel and sorted by 18-49 demographic and by total viewership. These encompass all broadcast network shows as well as many scripted (comedies/dramas) on cable channels.
TV Show Ratings (weekly averages) — Each week, we take all of TV show average ratings from the current season and put them all together in a big list, ranked by 18-49 demographic and also by total viewership.
Ratings archive — This is a page that lists all of the individual TV show ratings pages. It’s updated as new ones are added.
Discounted DVD sets — A tool that can help you find heavily discounted DVD sets from Amazon. We get a small percentage from your purchases so, if you purchase something via a link from this site, thank you.
