The Bible mini-series was a big ratings success for the History channel. Will the follow-up AD: The Bible Continues be a hit for NBC? Will the network want another Bible-related mini-series? If it flops, could they pull this one off the air? Stay tuned.
The AD: The Bible Continues mini-series tells the tale of the later chapters of biblical history (following the Crucifixion of Christ). It focuses on the disciples who had to go forward and spread the teachings of Christ to a world dominated by political unrest. The cast includes Juan Pablo Di Pace, Adam Levy, Richard Coyle, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jodhi May, Joanne Whalley, Ken Bones, Kevin Doyle, Helen Daniels, and Fraser Ayers.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/3 update: NBC has cancelled the series. They won’t air a second season but…
Final season averages: 1.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.41 million total viewers.

Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the AD: The Bible Continues mini-series? Would you like to see another Bible-related mini-series on NBC?
My husband and I really enjoy the series. We look forward to watching it every week. I truly hope the series is renewed. Everyone can learn the importance of Bible and how it relevancy is just as important today as it was during the time of historical era.
This is our favorite show on TV. So true to scripture and the special effects are great. We recommend this show to others all the time. We would love to see more of this series. We will be so disappointed if this series is not renewed. We are sick of vampire and silly alien and zombie shows.
Yes. I originally sat down with my wife to watch AD. following the thoroughly educational and well told Bible storyline. We both are learning much from the series and would continue watching In whatever format the series takes. The story is compelling, the writing and acting superb, and we’d really like to see the story of AD continue to be told.
Excellent series. We watch every week. I do think the violence of that time period is too much for many viewers, especially families with younger children. I am not sure how the story could be honestly told otherwise. I would like to know if all the story line about the brutality of Pilot and the Romans is completely true. I hope NBC is trying to tell an accurate historical account without creating more violence for dramatic effect. I am impressed with the acting and scale of the production and am so glad to see this important history in prime time.
Pilate was a brutal man and historically he was recalled after 10 years there. I don’t believe Tiberius and Caligula ever went to Judaea though. It was a violent time. There are exaggerations in the mini-series but the main idea is there.
This series has given me something to look forward to watching every Sunday night. I really hope it is renewed for a second season.
I truly loved this series. Is very current with the facts of the Bibles. God bless everyone. Jesus is the Lord!
I have enjoyed the series very much. Just wish we had more series like this with Christian values. I’m so sick of the many cop shows where there is so much violence. And we wonder why the kids have so many problems. I hope this show continues.
A.D. The Bible continues is a good show with a great message. It should be renewed
Love the series. Historically and emotionally.
I’m excited for the finale because I want to know if the Ethiopian eunich is going to help rebel against Rome or not. I am also nervous to see if Joanna will be actually spared or not. I’m so tire of Pilot and I want him to get his just due. I also want to see what the Isrealites are going to do about the statutatue being placed in the temple
I want to see what happens to Joanna. I am tired of Pilot and I want him to get his just desserts. I am curious to see if the Ethiopian Eunic is going to help rebel against Rome because he offered the rebel assassins payment. Glad that Calligula is gone
The performances, the sets, the costumes, the intrigue–all add up to a quality production. Whether you are a believer or not, it’s a decent way to soend your Sunday evenings, especially when this reality dribble is all over the place. The violence and cruelty are not appropriate for kids, but you can tell them to close their eyes or leave the room; the scenes.are not gratuitous. If its predecessor, “The Bible,” could be aired on regular network television we’d tune in for sure and so would many others.
A.D. has been absolutely wonderful! I hope to see more Biblical series on Sundays at this time slot. We need more family oriented programming…the only other show I watch on NBC is Days of Our Lives and this series…TV programming isn’t what it used to be. It has been refreshing to watch A.D. Very well done kudos to Roma Downing and Mark Burnett
PLEASE renew this series! I love it. Adam Levy is amazing as Peter…All of the actors have done a wonderful job… There are so many more stories left in Acts that I would dearly love to see come to life…(I’d like to see more of the Acts of the Apostles than the Roman drama, though I know it has relevance to what’s happening with the Disciples as well.)
I would dearly love to see it again next year…(with all of these same actors hopefully!)
This mini-series is very well done and extremely well acted! It is several notches above other Bible dramas or Christian films. They get across the terror of the early Christians and the power of the Holy Spirit. The great leaders, Peter and Paul (Saul for now) are exhilarating to watch! I hope they pick this up for another season. I don’t particularly like the over-the-top death scenes (Aquila and Priscilla), and I could NOT watch Caligula’s suicide-ordered death! But for the most part, they are getting the spirit of it right. My family and I look forward to it every… Read more »
