What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. Love this show .., the mere fact that this show exposes the truth about the indigenous community with missing and murdered indigenous women is a game changer, along with supporting native actors
Please renew this show! It’s fresh, gripping and well-written. Finally something worth watching the minute it airs and a second or third time to make sure you caught everything. It is so great to see ABC producing a show other than another reality, game or Grey’s Anatomy wannabe show. The fans of Alaska Daily may not be ABC’s biggest or typical demographic but our opinions matter just the same. Please renew this great show!
Please, please renew this beautifully written series. It tells such and important and compelling story and the acting is wonderful. It’s one of the best I’ve seen in years. I weep after every episode!
My husband and I have loved it, watched it faithfully on ABC (our HULU connection is bad and slow) the day after it airs on HULU. It moves fast and keeps the multiple storylines going well. I’d be very disappointed if it doesn’t renew!
This is a show we never want to end. We could easily watch more and more episodes especially when “the little man” us winning.
This is a show that is refreshing among a list of junk and common shows. It is serious but entertaining. It focuses on the story as the “main course” and not so much on the characters as a soap opera. PLEASE renew.
I wait each week for the new episode of Daily Alaskan or I record it when I am gone on Thursday nights. Keep producing this fine show.
