What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. Please renew the show. It has great actors/actresses that are bringing attention to many truths. Please, there are very few shows that are addressing this specific issue. It is an excellent show. I love this show. Please don’t cancel it. My fiance and I watched faithfully every Sunday night. This show is spectacular and I feel it will gather a larger audience as it plays on. It is opening peoples eyes as to what happens to our indigenous women and young girls. All lives matter!!
Before you cancel it at least finish the plot line!

I rented from YouTube and watched the 6 episodes more than twice already. SUCH a good show!!
I was busy this fall and started watching late. I binge watched all of the episodes and I love this show. I really appreciate the focus this show puts on indigenous peoples, especially women. Keep bringing it!

Renew for another season
I am quite surprised that this show is considering being cancelled. I think the fact that it takes on big issues, especially the missing women in Alaska is important. This is an issue with whites versus any other culture and the importance they put on finding them. I love the characters and how they mesh together in the newsroom. The only idea that might help the show is to make it more emotional for the viewers.
