What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. We really enjoy Alaska Daily. Please keep new seasons coming. We use closed captions because they talk fast and we record it because it is on late for us. That way we can play it at our convenience and playback if we miss something. We like the setting and the story lines and the actors. I used to work at a newspaper and my husband was stationed in AK so it is particularly interesting for us. Please renew it.

The best show in a long long time..if ABC cancels it, then they have a serious problem . This show captures which other shows lack..originality.

Please do not cancel this intelligently written, thought provoking show that address serious, real world issues. One of the few shows on network television I have found worth watching and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Swank and the others give moving, first rate performances
Daily Alaska is one of the few well written and well acted programs on television. If you get rid of all the inane game shows and reality programs there is very little left. Will Trent and Daily Alaska, along with a number of PBS shows, are about the only reason I turn on my TV.
