NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Take the Slap back to where it was (or take it out) and bring Allegiance back on. This is one of (not many) favorite shows of the week that NBC has and we really like (additional to the Blacklist).
I thought it was very good. 5 episodes? That is ridiculous, and simply more proof that America is largely unintelligent; flocking to absurd reality shows. WEAK, NBC… really weak.
I sat down to watch Allegiance tonight and it was gone. I thought it was a good show and I was caught up in the story. I am upset with NBC for just pulling it with no notice. To lead us along and then drop us is not the way to invite viewers to watch new shows.
Hey NBC, how about another reality series. Bruce Jenner’s transformation with the rest of the clan as support! You guys are genius’s!!! Had a blast watching Dateline tonight, tomorrow night and 2 Jr’s Sat night! Geeeze thank god for Hulu!
Que pena que quitan un show muy bueno para poner algo que no sirve regresen a Allegiance y quiten al programa que no sirve The Slap.
I liked Allegiance very much. I liked Allegiance much better than The Americans (watched all last season of The Americans). Blacklist is very good. I’ve watched all the episodes! Wish it was still on Monday nights. By the way, The Slap is not worth watching. Keep Blacklist and put Allegiance back on the air!!!!!
I was hooked from the very first episode and am so disappointed that Allegiance has been cancelled. I really hope another network picks it up. NBC you left loyal fans hanging!
Allegiance was a good show. NBC does not have a lot of good shows. They could have cancelled almost any other show and kept Allegiance on the air……
I liked the show. The only good shows on Thursday’s are The Blacklist, in which I dearly LOVE and Allegiance. I didn’t like The Slap the first time it came on. I have never watched it nor will I. Why do the networks have to take off a show that makes your brain work trying to figure what is going to happen next with that show [The Slap] . Please don’t take the Blacklist off. It’s all you got going for this channel and I is DAMN GOOD.
Disappointed to hear Allegiance is cancelled. It was becoming my favorite show to watch. Should never have moved Black List to Thursdays.
I was drawn to this show and want to see more. The characters are well played and quite interesting. Replacing it with a stale, much ado about nothing show such as “The Slap” seems so sad. NBC is replacing substance with shallowness.
I am so disappointed in NBC a for pulling this great show! So tired of investing my time in a show only for it to be pulled bcuz of low ratings. So now loyal viewers are now left hanging. And they think ‘The Slap’ is better TV?? No wonder cable TV shows dominate the Emmys! If Allegience was on cable, it would be a hit!! NBC …. You blew this one!
Very disappointing that a show like Allegiance is off the air after only
5 episodes. The acting and storyline were excellent. Maybe there is a
chance that NBC will at least allow the full first season to return.
My husband and I loved allegience. We want to see the rest of the episodes.
Please bring allegiance back. I record sscandal in order to watch alligience. ThE slap can be slapped out I don’t care for it. The blacklist I love.
