NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Loved this show. It needs a season 2. They left us hanging. There are not any good drama shows like this out there anymore.
fantastic first season. Should not be cancelled. A fan from Trinidad and Tobago.
Just caught this show on HULU, and watched several shows back to back because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.. Absolutely love it! I agree, bring it back and give us a second season. This is one of the most intense and entertaining dramas I’ve seen for awhile!!
I loved this series. I am so sorry to not have closure to the episodes that we were watching.
Great drama. Should NOT cancel it.
They should move the series to a new timeslot and show all remaining episodes,
Allegiance got better and better as the season went on. The last episode set up a second season that looked as though it had a better premise than the original. But the show was never well promoted or positioned. After seeing the first couple of episodes I ended up buying it on iTunes because I couldn’t even remember what network, day or time it was being broadcast on!
Fantastic series!!! Why can’t the networks let a full season play out?? Sometimes it takes 6-8 episodes to GET INTO IT. To keep cancelling and restarting new flops….give the audience more time to catch up and fall in love with the characters.
I saw on iTunes up to episode 13. And it got very intense and a second season would have blown the audiences mind.
This is why Netflix, Shomi, etc….are where people are heading to watch shows.
The networks are failing it’s fans.
So sick of shows with potential being canceled while dumb, superficial, idiotic, shows like the Kardashians are renew for many seasons. So lame.
Loved the show it should have not been canceled I want a season 2
alliegance was an awesome show shouldnt have been cancelled. all the way from nigeria
Loved it. Let us see the rest!
Great show. Should not b cancelled

I was on the edge of my ‘seat’. I watched it back to back. I can’t believe it.
Please dont cancel the show.
im a fan all the way from Kenya
They don’t care about people outside the U.S. They only want eye-balls for the ads.
The show was intelligent. It gave one pause to actually think.
Very good show! Should not have been canceled.
Show was amazing never should have been cancelled I say try a second season and check new rating advertise it much more. Very disappointed to see a show with such potential be cancelled.
