Networks potentially cancelling a favorite TV show can be a bit scary but this particular one is safe. FX has already renewed American Horror Story for a 10th season. Still, this FX series has to end sometime and declining ratings will likely be the cause so, we’ll still keep an eye on the season nine numbers anyway. Stay tuned.
Airing on FX, American Horror Story: 1984 stars Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross, and Zach Villa. In the summer of 1984, five friends escape Los Angeles to work as counselors at Camp Redwood. As they adjust to their new jobs, they quickly learn that the only thing scarier than campfire tales is the past coming to haunt you.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The eighth season of American Horror Story on FX averaged a 0.96 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.03 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the American Horror Story TV series on FX? Are you enjoying season nine? Do you think it should have been cancelled instead of renewed for season 10?
I don’t enjoy season 9 in general but this is better than Raonoke season (this is my least favourite). Any chance of bringing the witches theme back? Any chance of bringing LADY GAGA back for season 10?
I have watched all of the AHS programs until this season when FX apparently decided that providing Closed Captioning was not to be provided. I have written to FX (several times) and have received ambiguous responses. My TV does not have CC but Spectrum does provide it–but not with AHS or Mr. Inbetween. Since even the commercials have CC and all their other programming as well –except for the last two episodes of Snowfall I find this odd that it is not provided for these two programs. Oh well, this frees me up for other activities.
AHS 1984 – I watched the 1st Episode – haven’t watched it since then. Either FX didn’t give them a good budget or, I’m leaning towards this, gave the writers this season off, pulled out Friday the 13th and told themselves, hey, if we change a little of this & that, no one will think it’s a copy of Friday the 13th. This is just bad. I’ve been watching AHS since it premiered and liked most of the seasons (7 out of 9) but I would have thought they learned their lessons from the past. This season I’m sure will… Read more »
OK, this is truly bad
This is so bad. The characters could be used better, so much potential, but the story is just downright awful.
Banal, trash.
I kept waiting for this season’s premiere to reveal itself as a parody, but alas, it did not, so I stopped watching about 45 minutes in. I mean, c’mon people! Hasn’t this been done (and done better) about a gazillion times before? Time for AHS to hang up its cleats?
Have you seen AHS before? The plot twist you are looking for is usually not revealed until the fourth or fifth episode, certainly not 45 minutes in to episode 1.
I’ve watched several seasons — some were well-done, some were not. I have neither the time nor the inclination to wait that long for a payoff I may or may not like. Obviously, I wasn’t impressed by the quality of those 45 minutes.
My feelings exactly . This doesn’t make sense . Season 8 should have been the end . With the murder house and coven crossovers and the return of all of the big time characters that we love so much it would’ve been a perfect finale . After all that to bring it back with a bunch of different actors except for the SCREAM QUEEN CHICKS . and iA stupid storyline it’s totally different from any of the other shows in the anthology it just didn’t make sense it’s a shame. If they wanted to do this they should’ve called it… Read more »
