What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Anne with an E stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson, Dalila Bela, Corinne Koslo, Aymeric Jeff Montaz, Helen Johns, Lucas Jade Zumann, Christian Martyn, Kyla Matthews, Philip Williams, Lia Pappas-Kemps, Miranda McKeon, and Jonathan Holmes. A TV show adaptation of Lucy Maud Mongomery’s Anne of Green Gables novel series, Anne with an E is an 1890s Prince Edward Island period drama, centering on 13-year-old orphan, Anne Shirley (McNulty). For years, the bright and creative Anne suffered abuse and neglect in various orphanages and foster homes. Now, thanks to a lucky mistake, she has arrived at the home of siblings Marilla (James) and Matthew Cuthbert (Thomson), and Avonlea, P.E.I. will never be the same, again.
On August 3, 2017, Anne with an E was renewed for a second season which will debut on July 6, 2018. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Because Anne with an E is also a CBC TV show, a cancellation or renewal depends — at least in part — on its Canadian viewership. Although we don’t track the ratings in Canada, from high atop my perch, I can spot cancellations and renewals north of the 49th parallel. Subscribe for free updates on any Anne with an E cancellation or renewal news. For now, I intend to seek out some P.E.I. mussels for my supper instead, because I believe a season two renewal is quite likely.

I love this series. would be soooo happy to see season two
I use to think there could never be an Anne better than the Megan Fallows Anne from PBS. But, this series is even better. If it doesn’t continue through to the end it will be a dirty trick! We are emotionally invested now. When you start a series like this, it’s like a promise to the audience…come experience it together. If NETFLIX lets us down on tis series, I will never watch another of their productions for fear of further disappointment.
Best show I’ve seen in years. Wonderful adaptation of wonderful books. SO hope for a 2nd season!

I am so in love with this show. Though it has new twists, it keeps with the original story line. I am waiting to see if they make a next or a “Anne of Avonlea”.
This was a terrific Anne first season, wasn’t it? I wish we didn’t have to wait for the next. Many valuable lessons in what Anne learns in this season. Many years ago we invited a big batch of our friends to have an Anne marathon overnighter. Such fun, adults spralled across the floor all night. Not something we’d done before or since. You make it. We’ll watch it!

Anne with an E is fabulous an in fact, even better than the original Anne of Green Gables. The actress playing Anne is superb. Please bring g it back!
This is a breath of much needed fresh air. I have loved Geraldine James since Jewel in the Crown. McNulty is splendidly natural. You must follow through to the very end. Kudos to the other actors.
Anne with an e draws in crowds by the droves! It’d behoove you to continue the book til the end. That being said we’re disappointed the seasons may not be renewed to it’s completion; because we’re impressed and intrigued by this version; it’s given it a ‘true life’ feel, bringing it into our own era by the characters’ acting skills!
