It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I was anxiously awaiting Season 2!! This quickly became my favorite show. Very disappointed about its cancellation.
It irresponsible to not do at least 1 more season. This was a very clever and enjoyable series. You absolutely must do an additional season…oh and write Rob Lowes character back in somehow.
Very, very disappointed about this!
I am very disappointed that there will be no season two. I call bs on the reasons Sky listed. The show ended on a cliff hanger and has such rich potential for a second season. Now I wish that I had never watched it.
Yes absolutely do season two ~ this show is brilliant!
Would love at least ONE EPISODE to tie up all the loose ends
What else were we to expect with a tv show starring Rob Lowe… 🙂
Truly a good refreshing show. It’s wasn’t a stupid reality-based show, it was very good and actually keep me waiting for what was going to happen next. Unfortunately we will never know. Hopefully another network picks it up.

Loved quirky and fun season one. Season two, please.
Season 2 REASON PLEASE read Jesus Died & rose again after 3 days in the biblical sense. He was stripped basically naked & beaten/tortured. JAMIE is technically dead. He died or dies naked. The anti-christ claims to be God {Falsly offers hope and people follow him.} From this the true Christ rises {technically being JAMIE} You could tie in the pages the priest was reading in the books. JAMIE ends up saving the world & his brother is condemned. (but the wife turns out pregant by Ariel!) Then the brother plots to kill them-ends there OR JUMP a few years… Read more »
What were they thinking canceling the second season? ??? I’ve been waiting to see what happens next and me dreams have just been crushed. Poor decision indeed. ..
I can’t believe it!?! U literally left us hanging at the end of season 1 waiting to see what happens to Jaimie n now no season 2, this really sucks!!!!! I have no idea why they felt like that was a good solid ending to the story, but it really makes me not want to watch any more of their shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, but NO THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please make season 2. This show is quirky, funny and intelligent. The actors’ characterisations are excellent. All but two characters have grown and changed during the course of the show. The two, who are delightfully evil, should have their chance to grow, whether for good or ill. So many stories have been set in motion. It would be a shame not to follow through.
Please make a season 2…plz don’t leave us hanging. Loved the show.
Of course it was cancelled. The first scripted show on NBC I have watched in years because it was quirky and different…and actually very good. TV execs on the big 3 are completely out of touch with what people actually want to watch. This is why they are loosing viewership.
