Although Arrow is no longer The CW’s best-rated TV show, by the end of season five, it remained a top-four performer in terms of both its demo ratings and total viewership. Still, the law of diminishing returns usually starts to ramp up around this time in a show’s life. Is this the beginning of the end? Will Arrow be cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned.
A CW superhero adventure drama set in the DC Comics universe, Arrow stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne, Echo Kellum, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, and Katie Cassidy. Five years after surviving a ship-wreck in the South China sea, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell) returns home a changed man. Now, disguised as the Green Arrow, he’s back in Star City and bent on righting his family’s wrongs. Although Oliver has solidified his crime-fighting force, enemies from his past return to threaten it, leaving him to reconsider his relationships with his chosen family.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/18 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Arrow averaged a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.755 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Arrow TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season on The CW?
4/2/18 update: The CW has ordered a seventh season of Arrow for the 2018-19 season. Details here.
Let the show die. It was good for a long time, give or take… Stop morphing it into something different.
I like Arrow but I think it’s time to end it. Wrap it up properly, give it a good final season and ending. Let’s get the show back to Oliver, Felicity and Diggle – OTA – with good villains of the week and a good season long mystery to solve. Enough with the awful NTA who are just bringing the show down.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite shows of all time. People are saying that it’s burnt out and other completely wrong things about it. I LOVE this show. Whenever I’m sad, I go on netflix and re watch my favorite episodes. I have probably re watched the show in it’s entirety 4 times. I’ve already watched the most recent season 3 times. When I’m telling y’all I’m obsessed with the show, I mean OBSESSED. I just came on here to ensure that this gem of a show would continue, but these reviews have been breaking my heart. I love… Read more »
There are many problems with Arrow one being Felicity and Oliver’s relationship!!! Listen it was cute at the beginning to watch them but the moment the Arrow writers crossed the line by Killing Black Canary I am pretty sure many fans jumped ship after that. The second biggest problem is the writing, the writing sucks. You stop writing about Green Arrow and started writing about all these minor characters. Listen some minor characters are fine but the show is about Green Arrow who cares about all these minor characters no one. Fans tune in to watch Green Arrow, his love… Read more »
I agree with you 100%
I love Oliver and Felicity’s relationship. It’s one of the main reasons I’m still watching. I certainly never tuned in to Arrow to watch GA and his love for BC. We all watch for different reasons, attributing loss of viewers to one thing is silly.
I really don’t care for Black Canary. Actually, I never ever heard about her before, and I don’t want to, to be honest, especially after this CW trainweck. I found Felicity more relatable, more real, and that’s what I search in the shows, even with supernatural elements. For me, it’s all about characters, not stunts and action. I would care for action and stunts if my faves were in it. So far only New Team has some stunts and, and I am sorry for stunts people, but I fast-forward those scenes, because I am just not interested in that awful… Read more »
I stopped watching this after season 4. I gave it a shot with the premiere of 5, but nope. After Roy left, there was nothing there to keep me watching the show. He’s supposed to be coming back in season 7, but I think it is their desperate attempt to regain viewers or keep them after a couple of main cast members left. I think they’re at that point where they know it’s time to jump ship.
Get rid of Felicity and olicity! The show has lost a quarter of its viewers this season and that’s the reason why. Bring back Laurel so we can have Green Arrow and Black Canary like we should have had since season 1!
Listen, yo! Felicity AND Olicity are the only reason I am still here. From season 5 onward this is one of the worst written show I have ever watched, and I watched Passion. If any, reason for ratings decline should be found in atrocious gas-lighting of audience and constantly OOC moments from main leads to justifying plot over plot. I want evolution from my fave characters, and these writers just put them in same scenario every damn year. And metas don’t belong to Arrow. Get rid of all Birds.
If you’re only watching Arrow for Felicity and olicity, you’re watching the wrong show. It’s supposed to be about Green Arrow – not Felicity and her hacking skills. She needs to go. Black Canary and Green Arrow have been a couple for nearly 50 years, so Pretty Bird belongs on Arrow. As for being the worst show from season 5 onward, that’s not the case. It’s been going downhill since the end of season 2 when they decided to go with olicity instead of focusing on Oliver and Green Arrow. Felicity should never have made it past the single episode… Read more »
Are you aware there hasn’t be that much Felicity and her story line in what now – two seasons straight. SO PLEASE – found new reason for ratings decline. I don’t care for comics ergo don’t care for what supposedly should be on TV show – and I surely do not wanna see any iteration of that toxic relationship of Laurel/Oliver, or Oliver with anymore else for that matter. They built Oliver/Felicity from season 2 and I am very invested in them, as characters – individually and together. I just wish writers sometimes would watch its own show properly and… Read more »
OFF WITH THIS SHOW!!!!!!!
Season 7 needs to be the last season. The quality of stories has gone way down and it seems like no one involved with the show even cares anymore.
Show has devolved into a soap opera. Everyone is dysfunctional. Time to call it a day.
I don’t have anything against soap operas, however I am very against BAD PLOTTING AND WRITING, and o boy, Arrow had that in plenty, especially in the last few ep of season 6.
It’s time to go to the finish line with this show.
Pretty sure Arrow has always been a soap opera. Even Berlanti said comics are “soap operas for boys.”
Is Arrow done/Finish this season?? I’m confused…I thought it’s suppose to be about 20+ episodes?
Arrow is one of the best for me…all seasons and episodes. Lets keep going. It just stopped and didn’t end anyway, we do need to see more.
