Ginger ain’t talking, at least not yet. A revival of the cancelled As Told by Ginger TV series is not currently in the works at Nickelodeon, even though it arguably should be. The show was noted for its continuity, character development, and wardrobe changes not common to animation.
The original As Told by Ginger cartoon ran for three seasons. A Nickelodeon source tells Fuse: “As much as we love As Told By Ginger, there are no immediate plans for a reboot at this time. There is no validity to the MoviePilot story.”
Seventeen posted this update to its As Told by Ginger TV show revival story:
UPDATE: According to Jean Yoo, who oversees animation press at Nickelodeon, sadly, As Told By Ginger won’t be getting a reboot after all. “…As much as we love As Told By Ginger, there are no immediate plans for a reboot at this time,” she told Seventeen.com.
Sorry, fans. Maybe one day!
Bustle also updated its revival story:
Update: a Nickelodeon rep confirmed that there are no “immediate plans” for an As Told by Ginger reboot “at this time,” and that the original report that a reboot was in the works has “no validity.”
It seems Variety‘s story on the reboot, which we failed to bookmark, has been taken down, entirely.
Consider this the update to our own story on As Told by Ginger’s return to Nick. We hold onto the hope that one day, this fantasy will become a reality.
Why would someone craft a story like this, which can only dash the hopes of die-hard fans? Would you like to see Nickelodeon revive the As Told by Ginger TV show? Sound off, in the comments.
please reboot this show. It was unique and wonderful, the characters were great and much like real people that cartoons do not usually portray. some were loveable and some were terrible just like in life…As told by Ginger deserves a second show
Please give us our show back I wanna see ginger in end of high-school or start of collage I wanna see why she got back with Darren and married him even though what he did was unforgivable just plz give us our show back!
As Told By Ginger and Hey Arnold are the very best shows ever on Nick. Please play more reruns of Ginger. Please plan on making new episodes. Forget the one where Ginger goes off to school and has a complete change and go back to the original shows with Ginger,Dodie and Macie. I would love my grandchildren to watch them just as their mother did when she was younger. Thank You. People really like that show and Hey Arnold a lot more than some of the silly stuff you do run all of the time.
I was able to purchase the complete series on the website called “media collection” it was $40 and worth every penny! I received the package in like a week, only thing is towards the end the episodes are out of order so just look up the episodes one by one so you don’t miss anything.
I definatley think they should I never got to finish the whole season ,it was my favorite 90’s show
I think that there ought to be a continuation of the show. Because we all know that there are many unanswered questions. Things like: Will Macie ever have a relationship of her own? Will there be the presence of bad unhealthy habits coming to certain characters? Who? How? When? Where? Will Ginger get back with Darren or go further with Orion? Will Hoodsey lose the Nickname Hoodsey and go by his biological name? What will come of the Griplings as they now go through life being anything but rich? These are like sort of questions that a bunch would like… Read more »
No, this show does NOT need to be continued, because I never liked it from the beginning! By the time a girl is mature enough to comprehend the level of emotional drama in this show, she’s probably NOT into cartoons! Animation should be cute, colorful, fun, and uplifting, not ugly, depressing, poorly-drawn, and inappropriately “mature” in nature (think of the relationships between the older girls and boys in this show). So while the show may have been more successful had it been “As Told by Carl” instead, since he was the only reason I watched it, I do NOT think… Read more »
I think you are very wrong cartoons can be fun and uplifting? But they can also be dramatic and realistic you are narrowed minded to think cartoons should only be for young boys, they can be for anyone on any topic. So what if it was mature and had so themes that were different that is a true to life someone’s life is not always uplifting and fun let girls watch the cartoon. Life. Can and will be ugly and depressing children need to learn that. Why should boys only get cartoons that is not fair you must live is… Read more »
I loved the show it was very helpful as a girl growing up. Yes I watched plenty of shows with people but this was by far the best. So many social issues that didn’t play out realistically in other “non animated” shows like in this. I’m 29 and my 7 almost 8 year old watches it more than and we talk about every topic md how it relates to what she see at school. Shows now are too grown up and this one may be on the younger side but it’s not all about a boyfriend and liking boys. She… Read more »
You don’t know a thing about the show. I read all about it and i love it. Of course that some of the things in it tend to nauseate me every so often… but you know what. A show isn’t a show without parts where you feel a little nauseated. I get turned on with anticipation over seeing Macie, Lois, Carl and Ginger. Dodie though i would just like to bitchslap. But… I love the show. All the way to it’s very essence and core. If you don’t like it… That’s fine. That’s you. But don’t be going around speaking… Read more »
I’m sorry but I think you are very wrong! I’m 37 and still enjoy it!! I recently bought the entire collection and can’t wait to show it to my daughter.
I am 31 and I am doing a rewatch of the show now. To be honest with all of the ludicrous and unrealistic things Nickelodeon had going on in their live action shows, As Told by Ginger was incredibly refreshing to see. And OP IS very wrong about in their claims about the ages in which people lose interest in cartoons. People watch cartoons at any age and if they rebooted the show, I’d watch even if I was in my 40s.
