Tragedy strikes Ax Men. TVLine reports Ax Men star Gabe Rygaard was killed in a car accident last week in his home state of Washington.
Earlier this year, Rygaard announced the History series had been cancelled after nine seasons. His family’s logging company was featured in the docuseries, which chronicled the logging industry of the Pacific Northwest.
In May, Rygaard posted a message on Facebook saying there would be no 10th season of Ax Men:

Just found out as we are in Oregon with family and wondering why we had not seen anything about new season. So sorry. My Dad was a logger and the series always made me see how hard he worked and how dangerous logging is! As we all know cars are too. Will always love the series and fondly remember the series!
Really enjoyed the show. I knew most of the guys and a couple I was related to.
REALY I did not see it as a one man show. I enjoyed all the crews that worked hard for the program. Maybe the respect should run a little larger. Sorry for the loss. They used to be a saying, The show must go on, now… will the show go on
Sorry to hear of Thier loss, I love this show hopefully it will return in the near future.
I’m sad to hear about the loss of a great man but the show was about the people who love logging and they should respect the other loggers and continue the show for everyone.
Loved that show real men working hard to make a living which many people have forgotten how to do. Along with a treasure aspect looking for buried logs in rivers and lakes, something I never new you could do. Will miss all the sawyers
