It was recently revealed that Banshee will be ending with the upcoming fourth season. Some see this as a cancellation but the series is ending on its own terms, no because Cinemax cancelled it.
A source tells HitFix, “We have not been canceled, but on the creative side, we have decided to end the show, basically because we were done telling the story. As Cinemax’s highest-rated show, no one was looking to cancel us. It was a creative decision. The premise was never meant to survive a long stretch. We all made the decision at the end of season 3 that we were going to make season 4 our grand finale.”
Yesterday, Banshee co-creator Jonathan Tropper shared his perspective on Twitter:
As we planned out season 4 of Banshee in the writers room, it became increasingly clear to me that the story was reaching its natural end.

Banshee great. The producers could easily come out more story line. I even see some questions never answered and could be easily done in Season 5. Producers forget they should think about the Fans. We aren’t ready for an end since the characters still have a story. It’s terrible end Banshee because it’s convenient for Producers. Terrible decision this will only upset Fans. Banshee is a wonderful exciting series. I always look forward to seeing it now I have nothing no more. Very sad

We really love this show. I wish the show would continue because it is great! We watched every episode and wanted more.
This is a travesty. Best show on TV except perhaps GOT.
This show has it all: creepy characters, beauty, awesome fight scenes and a wonderful backdrop for a story.
I love the pace and the antics and the characters the most.
I think we need to continue this as a spinoff. Perhaps there needs a Banshee Movie.

I agree 1000% these people are crazy for ending it the way they did. I can’t believe it myself, and I viewed in late, it had just ended, but I watched the whole 4 episodes already. They had so much more to right, it sounds weird…And I hope they do make a couple of theater movies as well! I’d love to see Lucas and Carrie reunite and be happy finally.
This is not a good decision. This is a good show which tv sadly has a lack of in its lineup. It is a struggle to find a show worth viewing.
Stop the bull. All shows begin and end with MONEY. So spare everyone the spin.

I love this show, every season was the business and left you wondering what’s next. There are so many bad guys to continue the storyline with, new characters to bring in new enemies…Joe can be chased down, Rabbits brother can go dark lol just so many endless possibilities. And we just scratched the surface of Sugars past!
Bro i am very big fan of Banshee.Bro I have watched lot of TV shows trust me no one can beat Banshee,now and forever.You really disappoint millions of your fans to end by 4 seasons only. We understand that you had some pressure to finish but think about your fans.Trust me you will never write a story again like Banshee. Since you are taking comments, then you must atleast consider all the pleas and disappointments that are left in these comment. You will never have a show like banshee!!!It keeps you on the edge of your seat, it keeps you interested no matter who’s storyline it is.
