It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I loved it. I thought it was entertaining enough that factual goofs bothered me not at all. I’m rewatching it on Amazon now. Worth a second or third look.
How very disappointing this show is cancelled. Really enjoyed the show.. great cast and script. Hopefully, Netflix will pick it up and soon.
My 80 yr. old father and I loved this show! I am very sad it won’t have a 2nd season. How can STUPID supposedly Reality Shows go on forever!
Netflix please pick up the show!!!!
If Netflix picks up, hopefully they will not change it! Too often a good series gets picked up and is changed to make it “edgier”, only to make it like so many other shows out there. The acting and story lines are what are good about the show. If they keep it on the same track, it will appeal to a wider audience. Try to make it more “adult oriented” and the field (and story lines) become too narrow.
It often takes one season just to _discover_ a new show; much less one that is started mid-season, in the spring! Have been watching this on Netflix and very disappointed to find it is not coming back.
I don’t even like cop shows! I went to high school in battle creek. I watched that show all night till this morning, the whole season in less than a day. It has to have a second season! Please please pleaseeeeeeeee! 🙂 -yours truly an awesome critic
I love cop /forensic / syfy.. They need to pick up this show!
Netflix needs to pick this show up asap! The acting and story lines were great. Promotion for the show was terrible. It deserves a second season.
How do we get Netflix to pick this show up? Just watched the whole first season on Netflix with my fiancé. It was absolutely addicting, great actors, great story lines, great everything!! I had never heard of the show before but it’s truly amazing and something that the tv world really needs. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring it back!!! Somehow!
Never heard of Battle Creek until it showed up on Netflix. It is one of the best ‘network’ shows I’ve watched in years. Too bad it didn’t get the ratings. Since nobody claims to have heard of it until Netflix, it simply failed due to a poor job of promotion by network producers. The writing and the actors were excellent.
greatest cop show ever. and I watch a lot of cope shows. Watched on Netflix and hope that they will pick it up.
Never heard of the show until Netflix- it was a great show and I binge watched for 3 days. Was bummed last show and looked up when the next season was only to find out it had been cancelled. Good characters great story lines and humor. Be disappointed to see it ober
I am binge watching now on Netflix – it’s great. More, please! (stupid networks)
I had no idea this was on tv. It is an awesome show. My husband and i watched all 13 episodes in 2 nights. Addictive, suspenseful, funny just an all around good show.PLEASE SHOW US MORE!!!
Netflix needs to pick it up! If Netflix picks it up they can be more lenient, way more adult oriented.
Just watched Battle Creek on Netflix. Googled season 2 to find out it was canceled. We loved it and have been telling friends about it. We really hope Netflix or someone will pick it up!
