It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
It’s a great series. With all the garbage out there it was refreshing to see a
smart , funny and entertaining program like this. Bad call to cancel CBS!!!
this was a great show! Really enjoyed the gradual revealing of the characters, the acting was excellent, the comedy solid and am terribly disappointed the idiots at CBS aren’t giving it more than a one season chance. Doesn’t the long record of hit shows that took a few seasons to develop an audience mean anything to the execs at CBS? Don’t be so short-sighted.
The problem was the show’s time slot. That and the fact less people are watching network tv (I found the show on Netflix). Absolutely everything else about the show was fantastic.! I’m sorry it was cancelled, but then again, I’m not in the age demographics; I’m sure my opinion doesn’t count.
My husband and I usually do not agree on a series. We both LOVED this series. Why did you cancel. Great script, great actors.. Really???
I totally agree about agreeing with my husband about a series. He usually falls asleep. This show has been quite engaging for both of us. Please bring it back!!!
Loved the show. The good ones always get cancelled, Netflix should buy this one.
I really liked this show. Liked it so much viewed all of the episodes on Netflex after I saw all of them on TV. I liked all of the characters & want to see what happens between Russ & Holly or why Milt was sent to Battle Creek. This was just fun to watch. I don’t know what kind of numbers CBS wanted, because this was a well written & acted. It deserves another chance.
I can’t believe Battle Creek has been canceled!
My husband and I found it on Netflix and had to watch the entire series. We loved it! What about putting the 2nd sereies on Netflix? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t cancel this fantastic show!!!
So disappointed to hear this news…wonderful character and writing, feel like we lost our two best friends…Please change your mind.
This is the best show on TV! It was just at the wrong time slot. I love the character Russ ! Dean Winters plays him perfectly and you can’t help but really like him. Please bring it back!! I don’t watch a lot of tv but I would watch this one for sure!! It’s a mistake to cancel it. Who doesn’t love Josh Duhamel!
I just found this show on Netflix and am disappointed to see that it has been cancelled. I think it should be renewed. Great show and well written. Give it another shot CBS…
Battle Creek should be renewed, it’s funny, well written and not based solely on debauchery and poor taste.
Really enjoyed the show and the relationship the characters had.
I really liked the show I think it was starting to get interesting.
I didn’t find this show in time found it on Netflix loved it
Renew renew renew, all cop movies don’t have to be drama and gory!! Love this Monk style plot. Have some comedy with the cops. Please please oh please bring it back. Love the characters, will holly and Russ get together, will guz and her son make up, font and the will’s kids, funk’s wedding? The true story behind mild coming to town. I’d watch and tweet.
