What’s going on over at EPIX? Recently, network boss Michael Wright spoke with Deadline about the future of the TV shows Berlin Station and The Contender.
A spy thriller, Berlin Station centers on a CIA agent (Richard Armitage) who goes to Berlin as an undercover officer to find a leak in the CIA. The cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Leland Orser, Michelle Forbes, and Richard Jenkins. Meanwhile, The Contender is a boxing competition series produced by Mark Burnett.
In the interview, Wright revealed EPIX is still looking over the viewership data before making a season four decision for Berlin Station:
We’re developing research so that we can tell which shows actually are creating the most viewer interest separate and apart from viewership. What I want to know is which show is creating conversations, which show is compelling somebody to subscribe or to a free trial, which show is compelling somebody to renew, and it takes a long time to get all that in and study it and know what it’s telling you.”
And what about The Contender? Wright sounds optimistic about another season, saying:
It did great. I thought it was beautifully produced. I think the question is, do we think that that format works best for our network and where we are going because I can’t stress it enough, it’s so beautifully produced and engaging. I think boxing is a really interesting sport and has a history of working on premium. We’re still talking to them about it that if we were to continue with that, what would it look like, how would it work?”
What do you think? Do you watch Berlin Station and/or The Contender? Do you want more seasons?
Berlin Station is a phenomenal show! I’ve enjoyed every season and have raved about it to friends and family who now watch the show too.
Berlin Station is the one show I can’t get enough of. I started watching it because I am a fan of Olen Steinhauer’s books. He’s the Executive Producer and Creator. While you are waiting for more of Berlin Station, I highly recommend his Milo Weaver trio of novels. Here they are in order; “The Tourist”, “The Nearest Exit”, and “An American Spy.” These are not formulaic beach read time wasters like James Patterson has been churning out (4 a year) for the last ten years. Olen’s books are smartly paced and reminiscent of Stieg Larsson’s style used in the Millennium… Read more »

Berlin Station
PLEASE DONT TAKE AWAY BERLIN STATION!!!
Love Berlin Station!! PLEASE dont cut it!
My vote goes to Berlin Station, thanks for continuing.
I’m a great fan of Berlin Station. I have recently signed up to pay an extra $15 to continue receiving Epix when Spectrum dropped it from my Gold package mainly because of programs like Berlin Station and Deep State. I have been concerned about the death of the main character played by Richard Armitage and wondering what that would mean for the show. I think, however that the current cast is very interesting, especially the strong women. Berlin Station should continue for several more seasons. Just keep writing those exciting scripts with strong, fascinating characters! I’ll keep Epix and drop something… Read more »
Berlin Station is my favorite show. I love everything about it. It’s one of the shows that makes me forget about everything.
Berlin Station is both well scripted as well as acted and is now the best espionage series on cable television. In addition, its European perspective ( not purely US nor British) provides a valuable and sadly rare locus and perspective for the drama and action. The only other series close to it is The Bureau, mostly streamed with subtitles or on Amazon Prime and Berlin Station is clearly better. For example the CIA personnel in Berlin S are mostly over acted or over-caffeinated and yet The Bureau is acclaimed with another year now assured but Berlin Station , with better… Read more »

Please do not cancel this series!
I love Berlin Station. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
My husband and I LOVE Berlin Station and are looking forward to the new season!!!
I meant BERLIN STATION, not the other, which doesn’t interest me at all.
Love love this show. It’s why I’m paying 15 dollars a month extra on my cable bill. Cancel it, I cancel EPIX.
