ABC gave Black Box a straight-to-series order and ordered 13 episodes without seeing a pilot first. They held it until late in the season (typically not a good sign) on Thursdays at 10pm as a replacement for their hit show, Scandal. Will Black Box live up to expectations? Black Box revolves around a beautiful and brilliant neuroscientist (Kelly Reilly) who’s hiding the fact that she’s bipolar. The rest of the cast includes Ditch Davey, David Ajala, Terry Kinney, Ali Wong, David Chisum, Laura Fraser, Siobhan Williams, and Vanessa Redgrave.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Please, please renew this show! It’s finally an intelligent and entertaining show. Those who do not like it cannot relate to mental illness. You have to have some form or have someone close to you to “get” the show. It’s refreshing to NOT have a typical show that’s predictable. It will be a disservice to those who do like and understand the show if you cancel. It will be a downright shame. I love it and never miss an episode!

FINALLY!! A show that isn’t afraid to tackle the subject of mental conditions! I absolutely LOVE Black Box! I honestly cannot understand how anyone couldn’t love it. I mean let’s admit it, just the pure heat building between Catherine and Bickman is enough to keep me coming back for more! I think ABC is BRILLANT to give us Black Box. And for people like me who love psychology and psychological conditions it’s a win win all around!!!

I can’t believe how many critics insult this show. I think it’s fantastic. Intelligent, bold, and deep. And the medicine is pretty legit , as opposed to a lot of other medical dramas. (Trust me, I’m a doctor)

I really hope they will renew this show. It is interesting, intelligent, stimulating….I keep waiting for the Thursday night to watch it and count down the days to the next episode!!! It didn’t happen to me since the beginning of Grey’s Anatomy!

Personally I love this show. I don’t really know who they poll to see how the ratings are, and often times the shows I love get somehow cancelled. I think that this show is intelligent and well written and I hope that ABC gives this show a chance to make a go of it. I’ve almost given up on watching any show until it’s been on awhile because I am tired of getting interested in a show just to have it cancelled.
