The ratings for The Blacklist TV show took another big hit last season, dropping nearly 40% in the same day demo ratings. Now that the drama series will have enough episodes for a good-sized syndication package, will this NBC series be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Stay tuned to find out.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader). He offers to help the authorities if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is his partner. The FBI then essentially works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold, Hisham Tawfiq, Amir Arison, and Mozhan Marno.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of The Blacklist averaged a 1.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.83 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
5/11 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a fifth season. Details here.
Keep it. It’s great!!!
Say goodbye to what I consider the best drama on television. You can tell by the episodes that they are headed to a finale. It’s a shame. NBC made massive mistakes with the show.
Keep!
Please renew the Blacklist – one of the best shows on tv! Can’t wait to see the episode of Red telling Liz that he is really her Father!
With the ratings in serious decline, season 5 will be it’s last. It will get renewed for two reasons: the launch of the spin-off and they are close to magic number of 100 episodes for syndication, etc.
I would like to see The Blacklist renewed. I enjoy the complexities of Raymond Reddington. There are still questions to be answered. One more season please.
This series has to continue for another season I am completely and utterly obsessed I don’t know how the viewings are dropping people must be mad I’ve watched 3 seasons in 1 month the best series I’ve ever watched
Definitely would like to see how it ends. Would be terrible if they cancel it before then!
Best series in years love it.. def need season 5
The show itself is great. Liz is just the most annoying character i have ever seen on a show. She is the only downfall.
