Although its audience skews older and doesn’t rack up the most impressive demo ratings for CBS, the Blue Bloods TV show remains a top performer in terms of total viewership. Still, every story has its end, and as the years pass, a show’s budget naturally increases to the point where a network can’t get enough bang for its buck. Is that time at hand? Will Blue Bloods be cancelled or renewed for season nine on the Tiffany Network? Stay tuned.
A CBS family drama, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The police procedural centers on the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Selleck) leads both the police force and his brood.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Blue Bloods averaged a 1.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.944 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Blue Bloods TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season on CBS?
4/18/18 update: CBS has renewed Blue Bloods for a ninth season. Details here.

I love this show. Please renew!! All of the characters are well written and Tom Selleck is still so handsome!! 🙂 Donnie plays the always annoyed Danny so good. Bridget plays Erin with toughness. She can go toe to toe with her brothers. Will plays Jamie as the mostly go by the book but he has his renegade side to him. Granpa is the best!! Len plays him as the old school commish!! He is my favorite character on the show. Tom plays Frank very well. Grumpy sometimes but always with the right intentions. This SHOW IS GREAT!! Please keep… Read more »
Please don’t cancel Blue Bloods! It’s clean and I enjoy it. I have 2 favorite shows and one of them is Blue Bloods.
This was always such a good show my family enjoyed the last 7 seasons together but this season has taken such a turn, no more prayers before family dinner and they make too many political statements.
Please continue with season 9! Best show on tv – all family have watched since beginning ( ages 42 up to 80 in family and even young grandchildren are starting to watch- please continue it. ) actors & stories/writing are the best- can’t belive the show, writers & actors get overlooked in Emmys – probably too many “American values, realistic family & police situations /cases” for them in Hollywood
Killing Linda as they did just ruined it for me. I haven’t watched it since. I always liked it but losing a major character and just writing that character out, poof, gone, was so disrespectful to the character and the fans of the show (and the family dynamics); it was awful. WE didn’t get to grieve. We didn’t get to “go to” the funeral. I’m just not interested any longer.
I absolutely LOVE the show! I would be devistated if it is canceled.
I personally think eight seasons are enough
The things that Drew me informed this show is no longer there. The fact that Danny and Linda both had demanding jobs but always managed to find a way to make their marriage work and come first. The way they always said family comes first and the prayer before dinner. Now Linda is gone.No one outside of Danny seems to care and prayer is gone
I say that it is time to cancel the show instead of changing it into something else
Bridget Moynihan does not agree with you. She likes working about half the year for decent money and then spend the rest of the time raising her son. This is a great job for her.
A great wholesome show! I watch every episode. It addresses hard issues in an especially constructive way.
Change the day of the week that it runs on. Friday nights are when we go off for weekend adventures or date nights away from the house for a breather.
The progression of the characters in Blue Bloods is for me and my wife are the reasons why we love this show! Tom Selleck continues to keep the Spirit of John Wayne and others from the Golden Age of Hollywood alive. The death of Linda Reagan could have been handled better , however, the writers of Blue Bloods continue to make the story lines fresh and current. Life is a Gift and with the challenges and situations that changes from day to day it is refreshing to see that Blue Bloods continues to give us the view public the ability… Read more »
