Last week, fans were upset to hear that FOX had axed newbie sitcom Breaking In after just a handful of weeks on the air. Though the sitcom’s numbers were pretty good, the series lost a huge portion of the American Idol lead-in audience and it seemed like the network felt they could do better with the timeslot.
Not long after the cancellation news, word came that Breaking In might not be dead after all. FOX and Sony Pictures TV were looking into possible ways to keep the series alive.
There’s one episode left and the network has now decided to see how it will do in another timeslot, this time paired with the already-renewed Raising Hope sitcom. If it does well enough, FOX might reverse its decision.
Co-creator and executive producer Adam F. Goldberg tells TV Guide that the cancellation came as a surprise because he believes that the network loves the cast and the show and have been pleased with the ratings. He notes that FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly called the cancellation “a heartbreaker” and wasn’t even fully committed to it when he called Goldberg to give him the bad news, saying that it wasn’t a definite pass.
Goldberg knows that schedule change comes at the last minute but hopes that enough people will find it and tune in for the season (hopefully not series) finale.
In addition to tonight’s ratings, Breaking In’s future may have a lot to do with the network being able to find a compatible series to pair it with. Goldberg said, “They just really don’t know what to do with it… When you have a family show or a relationship show, they really know how to promote that and make that a hit. But if you have a show about a bunch of geniuses who do heists every day, that’s hard for any network to figure out.”
What do you think? Is Breaking In worth saving? If you were programming the network, where would you put it?

Do not cancel “Breaking in” its a great show with great funny actors. Give it a chance it just started and of course the show isn’t gonna get the same audience as “American idol” that show is about singing and “breaking in” is about securing vaults, safes and anything you neen from being broken into. Just give the show a second chance.
Please I beg u not to cancel this show its the only funny thing I see on tv all the cast members are so funny u can’t give slater a show and cancel it in 7 weeks
Keep this show!!!! It’s smart it’s funny and come on. It has Christian Slater Michael Rosenbaum (spelling), and Trevor Moore. What more could you ask for?
I agree its difficult nowadays to watch shows because they don’t last since networks are looking for big numbers from them, Breaking In is similar to The Big Bang Theory which is my favorite show and I really like Breaking In and hope that the network can find a way to keep in on since, also why don’t they try putting it with the best new show or at an earlier time like before American Idol as a set up show.
Well I’d advise everyone that watches new Fox shows to stop. Theres a 90% chance it’s gonna get axed in the first 3 season. Look at the history Fox. Good luck to any poor sap that thinks any show is really gonna last awhile. And furthur more, they turned down this show at first, then picked it up later. What were they thinking?
PLEASE SAVE THIS SHOW!!! I love it!!! Its not the shows fault that it was not advertised right… IT IS AN AWESOME SHOW!!!
SAVE this show definitely! This is the first half-comedy I have loyally watched in YEARS! My whole family LOVES it, especially Oz and Dutch… smart, funny… It was only by accident I found that it is airing TONIGHT (Tuesday)..seems like a good time slot for it (following Raising Hope), but more warning of the change would have been good! Please don’t base all decisions on what happens with this one episode in a surprise time slot.
Its an excellent show. Its the only show i watch on fox.
Save the show!! Dutch is awesome, besides its time for Slater and Harrison to have a show be successful!
Please..Please…keep this show. It is great. I think after Raising Hope is just perfect for the show but I don’t really care when it’s on just so that it is going to stay on the air.
love this show its a different kind of comedy which is good and what we need
Fox is doing it again cancelling a show while it finally hits its stride. Another arrested development situation though not half as intellingent or funny, but still not a bad show.
Tonight’s episode was frakking awesome.if they cancel it, fox is gonna die.
I love this show. FOX has several great shows that are cancelled Breaking In, The Chicago Code, Good Guys, and Lie to Me. Please leave me something to watch
LOVED the show!
Smart and quirky, and at times smug, this show is much better than these idiotic reality shows that are on! Why can’t the networks see that a well written show is sooooo much better than that, and they should give it a chance. Placing it with Raising Hope (another excellent show) might be the placement it deserves…I sure hope the network wakes up and NOT cancel this wonderful show.
