In the good old summertime, networks tend to lean heavily on their unscripted TV series, and NBC is no exception. The network’s most recent entrant in that category is the Bring the Funny TV series. Does it have what it takes to keep the audience in stitches? Will Bring the Funny be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An NBC comedy competition, Bring the Funny is hosted by comedian Amanda Seales, with Kenan Thompson, Chrissy Teigen, and Jeff Foxworthy serving as judges. The series features a wide variety of performers aiming for the funny bone. Those who hit the target and pass muster with the judges get a shot at winning a $250,000 prize package, as well as the chance to see their name in lights during the season finale. In that live episode, the viewing audience gets to vote for its favorite act.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/18 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Bring the Funny TV series? Should NBC cancel or renew this TV show for season two?
*Status update: Bring the Funny has apparently been cancelled by NBC.
I really loved bring the funny and look forward to seeing it again in 2020!
I enjoyed parts of many episodes this season.
However, a glaring exception was the Finale…it had the absolute worst audio balance that I have endured in 70 years of watching television.
(and for the record, my hearing is still just fine).
It most definitely should not be renewed for a season 2 unless the severe audio problems are corrected.
Cancel it!! It’s stupid
I agree with the comments below that this show just missed the mark BIG TIME. Rarely could I find something that made me really laugh…and I did watch every episode in hopes of finding a “gem.” But sadly, by the end I wished I could regain those 10 hours of my life back. My hope is that NBC brings back Last Coming Standing.
I love this show! I find it to be hilarious! Also, it gives a chance to all comedians, from whatever comedic background, to showcase their comedy. There aren’t many shows out there like this one anymore. I find that a lot of people have become close-minded when it comes to shows like this. With that being said, I hope that this show sticks around. We all need a good laugh every once in a while.
This show is so stupid! I have watched 3 episodes hoping I would actually laugh. The judges do not laugh however they tell the superseded comedians that they are hilarious! I have several friend that “tried” to watch this show and agreed how amazingly stupid it is! Cancel this show immediately
This show is NOT FUNNY! 95% of the so called “Comedians ” are just plain boring & really stupid. So disappointed in this new show, it needs TO GO
I watched for the first time tonight, there was a comment made by the host that made me upset in regards to the comedian talking about Father’s Day. When the host was talking to the judges and was saying about being a daddy and the host said and a “black daddy”, as if the judge was going to relate to him more because he was black? I mean come on a daddy is a daddy, no matter what color or race. I am hearing and seeing that everywhere. And its stuff like that, that is seperating our culture. African american… Read more »
