What’s in store for the new season of Brother vs. Brother? Recently, Drew and Jonathan Scott spoke with TVInsider about season five of the HGTV series.
The new season will take place in Galveston, Texas and see the brothers compete to “transform drab waterfront homes into stunning vacation retreats.” Each will be given $600,000 and six weeks to get the job done.
In the interview, Jonathan explained why they moved season five to Galveston:
We’ve done the last two seasons at home in Las Vegas, and we thought to ourselves, “we want to mix it up.” We’re always trying to challenge ourselves as well as challenging each other. We thought the complete opposite of doing these challenges in the desert, was waterfront property. So we searched everywhere, all across the country, looking for beachfront property, but we wanted something that was pretty affordable. When we found Galveston, we were so absolutely blown away, and we knew this is what we wanted to do. We’ve never done beachfront properties before.”
Drew later discussed how the change in location affects their renovations:
Well, the big thing for Jonathan and me, we always need to make sure that we’re appealing. This show is a flipping show, right? We’re buying these houses with our own money—we have $600,000 each to buy and renovate—so we have to make sure we stick within that budget, and appeal to the local buyer. What is the local buyer looking for? Well, down there, they want more of a nautical feel, a seaside feel.”
Season five of Brother vs. Brother premieres on HGTV tomorrow, May 31st, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Drew and Jonathan Scott? Will you watch the new season of Brother vs. Brother?
Come to lexington, Ky!!! Please Please. With all the new growth in this county some of the houses built 30 years ago with shabby building techniques really need Drew & Jonathan’s expertise. We have Mary Todd Lincoln’s family home to state senator’s from the late 1700’s to shot gun duplexes to Johnny Depp’s mother & sister living in multi million dollar homes. It’s all here & booming with new construction. I’ve inherited my parents home bought in 2000 to have room for me & my young daughter. Though I have tried to keep up on maintenance the house is on… Read more »
They need to try doing that competition show they had a few yrs ago w/ordinary people fixing up the houses. Now that was fun. With the houses they do now, they’re so expensive that the brothers seem out of touch w/the house buying public… Most of us could never afford one of their places.
I absolutely LOVE the Brother Vs Brother challenges. These guys are so competitive, and so much fun. Not to mention, easy on the eyes. I WILL be watching – and I’ll keep watching everything they do !!
