The 6-week competition will challenge every aspect of what it means to be a true pastry artist and cake master. From techniques, to design skills, and taste, each episode will measure their talent in two rounds – a Bake-Off to test their baking abilities, followed by a Cake-Off to showcase their creative imaginations and decorating expertise. Renowned chefs Sherry Yard and Keegan Gerhard are joined throughout the competition by special guest experts including, Florian Bellanger, Street Science’s Kevin Delaney, Flip or Flop’s Christina Anstead, Hannah Hart, Waylynn Lucas, Penn & Teller, Gesine Prado, Fast N’ Loud’s Richard Rawlings, Aarti Sequeira, and many more, to help determine the winner. The pressure is on as the two biggest names in cakes put it all on the line in this ultimate cake-off!
“Audiences have come to recognize Buddy and Duff as the biggest names in cake, known for creating larger-than-life, jaw-dropping delectable designs as well as massive baking empires,” said Courtney White, President, Food Network. “Never before have these two baking icons gone head-to-head in a competition, until now.”
The competition is fierce as Buddy and Duff pull out all the stops and push their creativity to the limit in each challenge as they whip up impressive creations. The battle begins as Buddy and Duff must make their most beloved family recipes in the first Bake-Off. Then in the Cake-Off round, they must construct car-inspired cakes with all the bells and whistles. Throughout the season they will be challenged to create carnival treats to impress a crowd of hungry amusement park patrons, dazzle with intricate Bollywood-inspired cakes, and satisfy customers during the morning rush at the iconic Randy’s Donuts in Los Angeles. If that’s not enough, they must also design desserts for an exclusive dog pampering party, impress a couple with elegant wedding cakes for their big day, and enchant audiences with illusion cakes for a special show at Hollywood’s Magic Castle.
In the finale on Sunday, April 14th at 9pm ET/PT, Buddy and Duff face their toughest challenge yet. For the final Bake-Off, the two chefs must work to make their most heartfelt and monumental creations yet – chocolate desserts to conceal engagement rings for surprise proposals. Then in the final Cake-Off, their skills are pushed to new heights, as Duff returns to Charm City Cakes and Buddy heads back to Carlo’s Bake Shop to work on their final show-stopping space-themed cakes. After weeks of intense competition, it all comes down to these out-of-this-world creations.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Cake Boss and/or Ace of Cakes? Will you watch Buddy vs. Duff?
My daughter and I love both bakers so when the first episode aired we were shocked and disheartened. Buddy was rude, arrogant and disrespectful to Duff and nature of contest. By second episode were were definitely no longer buddy fans! We watched buddy regularly and I’ve purchased his products but we will NEVER watch another buddy show or buy anything of buddy’s ever again! We’re so disappointed by buddy we’ve stopped watching the show much to our dismay! We even tried muting when buddy comes on but we can still see his attitude and we’re just turned off and decided… Read more »
Buddy is so arrogant and disrespectable to duff and everyone else that I hope he loses.
Duff is a talented class act.
I think buddy is a little full of himself and is a crybaby his mom would be very disapointed!
I hope Duff wins, Buddy is a baby in every episode. Duff make one of a kind cakes that you have never seen before and Buddy make the same type of stacked cake you can get from any wedding cake baker. I like Buddy for a long time, however he had shown the selfish, arrogant, mean person he is in this show. Duff you are an inspiration for how to be a good prson.
The Cake Boss shows his true self. Buddy isn’t just a sore loser but Food Network obviously has promised him the win. These men are both talented with different approaches to the tasks. But, Buddy’s fear and insecurities are all evident beneath his arrogance and degrading remarks. I don’t want my teenager thinking of him as a role model.
I have to be honest will not watch only because Buddy is acting like a baby and the judges are not fairly. i think they are afraid he will walkout like he did on the 1st episode. don’t even bother having a second season. Duff has more class and takes a loss like a man even though he knows he should have won.
I have always been a huge fan of both Buddy & Duff but I am having a very hard time watching this. Buddy’s ego is so huge that he comes of as a whining tantrum throwing brat. Nobody likes to loose but Duff does it so graciously compared to Buddy. So far I have watched all the episodes but I really doubt that I will continue watching if Buddy has a meltdown every time he looses a round.
I so agree with all the comments. Buddy seems to think he is the BEST, but his attitude stinks. As far as I’m concerned they should add sportsmanship as part of the judging. Duff will get it every time.
My choice is Duff. His heart is in the detail and the love of art in cakes. Buddy is more the bigger the better. Personally, it’s not how big it is but how it wow’s you.
Buddy is so whiney, so unprofessional, and the judges are to afraid hell quit to actually judge fairly. I will not be watching anymore.
Stopped watching after first episode Buddy was a child. Win or lose Duff a mich better person liked then both but 100 Duff now
Im a chef and I got to say Buddy is a sore loser I think their scared he will quit if they judge fairly duff won the carnival episode buddy used store bought chocolate filling the producers are more worried about hurting his feelings the judging fairly not sure if I’m gonna continue watching unfortunately the judging is not fair
I’m not a big fan of Duff, but Buddy’s reaction was so unprofessional. So, no, I will not be following the show. It was childish how Buddy reacted but even more-so by Duff who gloated over his undeserved.
I was very disappointed in Buddy after his reaction after lossing to Duff in the car challenge. Both gentlemen are top raked bakers and both have been judges on a various shows. Good sportsmanship is always in order. That is not the example that Buddy should be showing his children or his fans. The way Buddy played his loss was sad. Keep it classy Duff continue you to take the high road
Why can’t food network find any new personalities? How about letting go of the competition shows and go back to teaching cooking. The only newish show I watch is girl meets farm, because she cooks on an electric stove/oven not some $10k range.
I thought, food network star was to find new chefs or better put, personalities. Looks like most of those winners are judges on the competition shows.
