It looks like The Catch has failed to catch on. The ABC TV series has been cancelled after two seasons. The defacto series finale airs tonight.
Created by Kate Atkinson, Helen Gregory, and Jennifer Schuur, the drama follows a game of cat and mouse between private investigator, Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), and the man she loves, the elusive con artist, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause). The cast also includes Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Sonya Walger, Elvy Yost, and John Simm.
Unlike Shonda Rhimes’ series that have also aired on Thursday nights, The Catch has never pulled in strong ratings. Even after extensive retooling as a romantic comedy, season two has been averaging a poor 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 3.32 million viewers, making it one of ABC‘s lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
Produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch was supposedly a favorite of ABC boss Channing Dungey. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to land the low-rated series a third season.

The Catch was an EXCELLENT show! It was very entertaining, well-written, and the actors did a fantastic job as well. I hope that ABC reconsiders renewing The Catch. This show was so much better than 90% of the shows on TV! Instead we have tons of these useles, horrible reality shows.

I say they need a next season, I mean I can think of thons of ideas for a season three. what happens after they get on the plane do they come back? Does the FBI chick arrests AVI? And Resse “mockingbird” lol what happens to him I mean come on producers.
this is happening all too often anymore and ABC is one of the biggest offenders. They get you to buy in on what appeares to be an on going series that they’re goining to invest in and give it more than a knee jerk reaction everytime a rating dips. If we veiwers stopped watching Your network based on a handfull of not the best programming every so often you would’nt know what to air. Give this show more time. Give people a chance to bindge watch season 2 so they can catch up after all the distractions in politics people… Read more »

I don’t understand why it has low ratings, it is such a good show!! The ratings shouldn’t mean so much. I hope you ABC decides to renew it eventually.

The Second season was much better, more action and better dynamic between actors and actresses. The first season was lacking action and the plot was very uninteresting and why I think most people tuned out for Season 2. There should be a season 3 but it needs to be promoted better in order to ‘catch’ the attention of disappointed 1st season viewers.
The second season was great! We just finished catching up and we’re so upset to hear it’s been canceled!! They’re waisting the opportunity for a great third season!!
