CBS isn’t waiting for the May upfronts to announce most of their renewals. The network has decided to renew 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Elementary, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, The Millers, Mike & Molly, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest, Two and a Half Men, and Undercover Boss. The Big Bang Theory was renewed for three seasons earlier this week.
The fates of The Crazy Ones, Hostages, Intelligence, and The Mentalist are still up in the air. Their absence from the renewals list certainly isn’t a good sign. You can see a full list of recent/current/upcoming CBS shows here.
CBS ANNOUNCES RENEWALS FOR 18 PRIMETIME SHOWS FOR NEXT SEASON
Combined With Two Previously Announced Renewals, Network Has Now Picked Up 20 Returning Series for 2014-2015
Returning Series Will Include the #1 Drama, #1 Comedy, #1 New Comedy and #1 News Program
CBS, America’s most-watched network, today announced pick-ups for 18 series for next season. Combined with its previously announced pick-ups, CBS has now renewed 20 returning series for the 2014-2015 season, encompassing 17 hours of primetime programming.
“The best way to launch new shows in the fall and throughout the season is to surround them with a strong and stable lineup of successful series,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment. “The shows we’re picking up today cut across every night of the week and feature genre leaders, time-period winners and the most-watched shows on broadcast television.”
The 18 series renewed today comprise 15.5 hours of CBS’s weekly primetime schedule and include nine dramas, five comedies, two reality series and two news programs.
The nine dramas picked up are: NCIS, television’s #1 drama/scripted program for the fifth consecutive year; NCIS: LOS ANGELES, the #2 drama for the fourth straight year; time-period winners Person Of Interest, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods; as well as Criminal Minds, Elementary and the acclaimed drama The Good Wife.
The renewed comedies are 2 Broke Girls, THE MILLERS, which is the #1 freshman comedy of the 2013-2014 season, MIKE & MOLLY, MOM and the long-running hit Two and a Half Men.
In alternative programming, the Network announced pick-ups for its Emmy Award-winning reality series The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss.
Finally, in news, CBS will return 60 Minutes, television’s #1 news program for more than four decades, and 48 HOURS, Saturday’s #1 non-sports program.
In addition to these 18 series, CBS yesterday announced a three-year broadcast deal for The Big Bang Theory. Previously, the Network announced two more editions of the reality series SURVIVOR for next season.
Season-to-date, CBS is television’s #1 network in viewers for the 11th time in 12 years, averaging 10.84 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear these shows have been renewed? Which do you watch?
love the mentalit and intelligencepleae keep them.
Person of Interest is the best show on CBS, great cast, directors, writers. A thrilling, interesting story played by terrific actors. I was surprised to see such a great show on TV. I would love to see more shows of such high quality and this show is the reason I watch CBS. Person of Interest fits totally in todays world and has a touch of future as well, great! The Mentalist is also a great show with amazing actors, I’d love to see for longer, but I think the writers should add a new dimension to the “who is Red… Read more »
Agree with The Mentalist should be moved back to Thursday. I almost lost interest when long sports programs caused us to miss the last half of the program several weeks in a row. We also really liked Intelligence. Would like to see both programs renewed for 14-15 season.
I can’t believe that the Mentalist with its intrigue blended with humor is on the block given the cookie-cutter programs still getting picked up. Perhaps the vulgar innuendo so popular in many CBS shows needs to be integrated into scripts for The Mentalist; NOT! In an era of few “must-see-TV shows on broadcast networks ” The Mentalist” makes the grade in our home, along with “Person of Interest”, “Big Bang Theory”, “Survivor”, “Big Brother”, “Amazing Race”, and to be fair and balanced, ABC’s “Modern Family”. “Bad Teacher” might be a hit but only time will tell if, like it’s star,… Read more »
I just started to invest some time into the new series Intelligence and thought I’d see if it was going to be renewed or not before investing too much into the show. I really got into the series Almost Human this fall, which was a series that I usually wouldn’t watch but loved it. Now I was scared to like this series Intelligence and didn’t want to watch it to the season finale’s cliff-hanger to find it cancelled also and what do you know. Here we go again. The people commenting on the boards are right. Pretty stupid to decide… Read more »
The Mentalist is a great show, when they moved it to Sunday night it hurt its ratings. On the east coast during the Fall it starts any where between 10:30 and 11:30 at night. If you dont adjust your DVR you miss all of half of it. Then people lose track of what is going on. Move it back to a week night and the ratings will rebound !!!
all of my shows have been renewed on cbs for this fall except for The Mentalist!!Oh my goodness I can’t believe it but I remember last year when it was moved to sunday I read a post that said it would probably be canceled in that time slot…why oh why? love that show!!!
If the mentalist isn’t working on Sundays, move it to a different night
My husband and I were both very disappointed to find out that CBS canceled Intelligence we think it is a great show. Please find a spot for it . I can’t believe you took a show like that off and left Two and a Half Men and The Crazy Ones on.
I looked for this weeks favorite shows and noticed immediately that CBS has no intelligence. If you don’t agree with that statement the ask yourself….Why did we renew Big Bang Theory, Amazing Race and………The Simpsons….DUH We are in the process of looking into the new alternate delivery vehicles for TV and think we have at least 3 viable candidates to replace your DUH choices. Good luck in 2014 and have a nice life. DUH
NOOOOO more two and a half men, poor Jon Cryer!! Charlie should never have been fired! Or justshould have canceled the show then,, Cause Ashton Kutcher stinks!!!
Keep the Mentalist
I agree,we can’t loose the mentalist, what’s wrong with cbs
keep intelligence it will pick up more viewers next season.eveyone i talked to wants it to return the same for hostages
Please renew The Mentalist. It’s a fun show. But thank you so much for keeping Elementary which is one of the absolutely best new shows.
I agree I like both shows
The Mentalist would be fine if left on Thursday instead of switching with Elementary which I don’t watch. If you cancel The Mentalist that brings the number of programs I watch on CBS from 4 to 3.
PLEASE LEAVE MENTALIST
AND GIVE INTELLIGENCE A CHANCE..60-70 AGE GROUP LOVE IT …IT IS NOT A DUMB SHOW FOR OUR AGE..THANKS
