NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

I really love this show, and will be so bummed if they cancel it. I this it has a great story line with a great cast. I think it just need more time to be picked up by other viewers!
This is a great show. Give it another season I bet it will catch on.
wht are you taking this show off i love it great actors and good writers also . please think this through and give it another season . how about monday night that is a crap tv night. i hate reality tv.
I’m truly surprised that the people at the entertainment division of NBC still have jobs. It would appear that NBC wants to run its entertainment program the same way they run their news division…into the ground. I can now safely say there are no evening programs worthy of watching on NBC. Chase is a terrific show and I can only hope that a true entertainment company (TNT, USA, etc.) will pick it up. By the way, NBC, way to go with the SciFy Channel…you’ve successfuly ruined that entertainment outlet, as well.
unbelievable ! i agree the suits at nbc are morons ! these are the idiots that cancelled Southland that is now a hugh hit on TNT ! thank god for “cable” !
What the heck happened!??? I JUST got hooked on watching chase! Never even heard of the show until i saw it on hulu a couple weeks ago and i’m extremely disappointed in NBC for canceling the show! NBC will cancel CHUCK next week because they’re a bunch of idiots. :/ Burn in h-e-doublehockeysticks nbc.
this is my favorite show! my whole family will be so disappointed if it is not renewed!
I hope another network picks it up and proves NBC wrong; this show is better than 90% of what’s on standard cable TV fare. At least give the show a dang chance already. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU NBC!! And now we’re supposed to be happy with “Harry’s Law”?? Good grief – hard to believe a network can make Kathy Bates look bad.
I can’t believe CHASE was cancelled. It had become one of my favorite series.
Cannot imagine anyone choosing to watch Minute to win it rather than an episode of Chase. Great job NBC — replace quality with crap. Wish another network could take Chase and the remaining episodes/second season and make it happen. Awesome show and really irks me that we were hooked and hung out to dry.
It is silly to keep canceling all the action shows and replace them with more stupid game shows or reality shows.
This is exactly why I don’t watch NBC TV. This is a fantastic show and if they would market it to us Texans a bit harder that alone would secure their ratings. USA Network lets a show play out, and that is why I watch five of their series and now none from NBC since Chase is going away. Sometimes it isn’t the shows writers, actors, or directors that are the problem… but the lack of support and marketing it gets from the network. That’s the case in this scenario if you ask me.
House, The Closer, NCIS, Burn NoticeIn Plain Sight, Covert Affairs, The Event
Really Good shows – none on NBC. Never even knew Chase existed – That is NBC’s fault.
Happened on to Undercovers and then Chase late fall and started watching. Both are good shows.
Remember, this is the network that decided JAG wouldn’t work!
it is a great series and should go on for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am disappointed once again another great show is being canceled. My wife and I make the comment often everytime a great show comes out it is canceled. I guess not enough language, sex and drug references to make it worth while these days. Sad! My wife and I hope to see it come back and yes we are in the age bracket of 28-35.
