LOS ANGELES, MARCH 19, 2019 – WarnerMedia Entertainment today announced the premiere date and showrunner for Chasing the Cure (formerly known by its working title M.D. Live) from TNT and Lionsgate Television. This is a groundbreaking enterprise anchored and executive produced by award-winning journalist and humanitarian Ann Curry. It brings together a weekly live two-hour television broadcast with a 24/7 global digital platform in an effort to help patients who are suffering from undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or uncured medical mysteries. This enterprise will harness the full power of both television and a multi-platform experience in order to break down medical barriers in service of patients. Additionally, this initiative will foster and empower people across the globe on all screens to become medical detectives.
Debuting Thursday, July 25, Chasing the Cure will be simulcast on TNT andTBS from 8-10 p.m. ET.
Joining Chasing the Cure as showrunner is Kim Bondy, an award-winning journalist who held top positions at CNN, NBC and Al Jazeera America before becoming Head of Content at Soledad O’Brien’s Starfish Media Group in 2017.
Through a 24/7 digital experience and interactive components including live, second-screen experiences, suggestions, along with highly accredited doctors, will be able to share their experiences, advice and recommendations on what’s happening during the broadcast in real time – all toward helping find cures for people with mysterious conditions.
Additionally, Chasing the Cure will cultivate an online community for everyone to dive deeper into each case, not only empowering every one of us to become medical detectives, but also creating a space for people to provide support to people dealing with undiagnosed conditions. Everyone will have the unique opportunity to submit their own cases via an in-take process to be cared for by an around-the-clock engaged community and considered for the live broadcast.
“How could I not want to be part of this project, given the real chance that it will help people suffer less? This collaboration of physicians, journalists and television creators is not only groundbreaking, it could potentially help encourage new ways for people to access care,” says Ann Curry.
“Leveraging the power of a global digital community to help real people solve their medical mysteries is our mission on Chasing the Cure,” says Michael Bloom, senior vice president of unscripted and live programming for TNT. “With Ann and Kim’s leadership and dedication to powerful, honest storytelling, we plan on delivering significant results to those who are in need of answers or a path to wellness. This is not just a one-dimensional live television experience.”
“The audience will have a chance to proactively make a difference when we launch Chasing the Cure this summer, a project that takes a groundbreaking approach to tackling people’s unsolved medical mysteries,” says Jennifer O’Connell, executive vice president and head of worldwide unscripted television for Lionsgate. “It is one of those rare initiatives that seeks to inspire with a larger humanitarian purpose, and it couldn’t be in the hands of a better network partner or a more brilliant and respected team.”
TNT has ordered ten episodes of the series from Lionsgate Television.
Chasing the Cure is produced by B17 Entertainment and Motiv8 Media in association with Lionsgate Television with Brien Meagher, Rhett Bachner, Kara Kurcz, Brian Lee and Eric Ortner serving as executive producers along with Curry and Bondy.”

I, like many others thought this would be a legitimate show
Casing true mysteries that Dr’s have trouble solving.
Just one episode proved the complete opposite.
People presenting simple conditions who chose to never seek professional medical help
Ridiculous
Just yet another sham
James, it’s obvious you or your family has not been afflicted with “mystery illness”—or you wouldn’t make so callous and/or ignorant remarks! Please educate yourself! Read Sherry A. Rogers, M.D.’s book “Tired or Toxic” to get a better understanding of this urgent problem! This show is WONDERFUL!!! And it’s actually helping many people! Thanks to Ann Curry!!!
I have primary lymphedema in my legs(mainly the right leg). Since April, 2015, I have had two knees completely replaced. I was without a knee for 10 weeks 2 1/2 years ago. A new knee became infected several times. Each time I require six weeks of daily antibiotics at the hospital. I will probably be on oral antibiotics for the rest of my life. Each infection occurs earlier than the previous infection. Mentally, I do not know how many more surgeries and daily trips to the hospital I can handle. I just turned 71 in January. I also suffer with… Read more »
I think this is the best idea for people that have no hope; doctors have no answers. I have a 9 yr. old granddaughter who would benefit from being on this show, so I’m hoping you will keep airing this wonderful show that gives the hopeless hope.
My daughter’s 28 year old friend hospital for months now with mylitis… He had back pain all I buy headache collapsed was taken to the hospital and within 24 hours he was paralyzed from feet all the way up to his chin and he is on a respirator. My daughter has read article after article and talk about medical detective. Doctors seemed to think there’s nothing going to change that was yesterday. I have a daughter with clinically diagnosed Hypokalemia. For 2 years she has tried all the drug protocols and nothing works. Her nephrologist, who has many patients with this disease, is at a loss for what treatments could help. She would be a good case for the show.
I wish u would have information about the flesh eating diseas

Linda, it’s a nasty form of bacteria that’s resistant to most antibiotics. Try Colloidal Silver (one TBS twice a day) and watch it fade away! Check CS on the web: Meso Silver, Utopia Silver and SilversolutionUSA are all good sites for good info, and the first two sell in gallons, for long-term use. Good luck!
I don’t understand

Try Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, Dr. William Sandborn is the leading GI Dr in the country and you can read research papers and information online if you google him. I seen him there.
If this program isn’t including nutrition and diet, I wouldn’t watch it and the whole premise is a joke. Best of luck to those looking g for “the cure” but you wont find it on this show. B
I agree, nutrition and excellent, whole foods (diet) are very important, but many disorders are caused by the multiple pollutants in our daily lives. Two of the worst are: the particle board now used in building (floors, walls, upper story, roofs) that outgases formaldehyde and other toxins, and dental mercury, still a major component of “silver” dental fillings. Oh, and of course, the mercury used in vaccines! Given to very young babies! But this program is NOT A JOKE, it’s a “breath of fresh air” to see doctors taking a real interest in hard-to-diagnose disorders! Add an Environmental Medicine specialist… Read more »
How does someone get picked for the show.
I saw the woman on the commercial stating that her teeth started falling out, a condition I’m experiencing. Just wanted to research her condition to see how many others are experiencing this condition.
I am a walking autoimmune disorder and have been used as a study paradigm at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I can’t be treated because I’ ve had histoplasmosis. Tako Tsubo cardiomyopathy, Raynaud’s, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, RA, Fibromyalgia, 2 lumbar fusions, both hips replaced, SEVERE Scoliosis, and am barely able to walk without compression socks. My cardiologist said “see ya in a year, btw, your cardiomyopathy is worse.” No COPD, been tested a bout 6 times. April 9 was my 1 year anniversary of self-detox off 240 mg. of OxyContin 3-80mg. daily, 16 mg. Dilaudid and 20 mg of Valium for… Read more »
I can relate as my wife had autoimmune disorder and was in constant pain, although looked fine. She stayed in pain until the day she passed away and I wouldn’t want anyone to suffer with pain like that and all the doctors could do was adjust her medication periodically. Now I am experiencing some of the same pains and going through the same issues fighting with social security over payments of my disability. Really sucks fighting for what you are entitled to.
I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this, I also know exactly what you’re going through because I to have an autoimmune disease that know one knows how to treat because everything we have tried is not working and it’s affecting my whole body. I hope one day they will find something to help everyone that is affected with this disease.
