Could this be a sign that the show is being brought to a conclusion? Possibly but, Hallmark has also announced their plans for a spin-off movie.
Season four of Chesapeake Shores will debut this summer. Here’s the press release:
HALLMARK CHANNEL GREENLIGHTS FOURTH SEASON OF HIT SERIES ‘CHESAPEAKE SHORES’
“Chesapeake Shores” Part of the Legacy of the Network’s Top 5 Series Sundays
Hallmark Channel announces it has renewed the network’s hit, original series “Chesapeake Shores” for a fourth season. Airing on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT, “Chesapeake Shores” was one of Hallmark Channel’s most-watched original series and joins the network’s other primetime scripted shows as a top five-rated series on Sunday nights. Production on six episodes for season four is scheduled to commence this year for a season four premiere Summer 2019. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
“Viewers have found a home in their hearts for ‘Chesapeake Shores’ and have consistently made it a top performing show year-after-year,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We look forward to further exploring the show’s heartfelt and compelling storylines as characters navigate the complexities of life and love,” Vicary concluded.
Based on the novels of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods, the series stars Jesse Metcalfe (“Dallas”), Meghan Ory (“Once Upon a Time”), Golden Globe(R) nominee Treat Williams (“Everwood,” Hair), Academy Award(R) nominee Diane Ladd (Wild at Heart), Barbara Niven (“Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove”), Laci J. Mailey (“Falling Skies”), Emilie Ullerup (“Sanctuary”), Brendan Penny (“Motive”) and Andrew Francis (“Final Destination 3”).
The multi-generational family drama “Chesapeake Shores” follows Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to two daughters, as she adjusts to life back in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Abby now balances a budding relationship with her former high school sweetheart, Trace (Metcalfe), working for a firm that does business with her uncompromising father Mick (Williams) and raising her children. Returning to her hometown means engaging in the lives of her siblings: Jess (Mailey) a free-spirit trying to succeed as a bed and breakfast owner; Bree (Ullerup), a playwright who buys a bookstore in Chesapeake Shores after moving back home from Chicago; Kevin (Penny), a soldier adjusting to civilian life and new romance; and Connor (Francis), a new lawyer establishing his professional career. Having returned to Chesapeake Shores shortly after Abby, the O’Brien’s once-estranged mother Megan (Niven) strives to reestablish relationships with Abby and her siblings, though the O’Brien clan primarily looks to its wise grandmother Nell (Ladd) for guidance.
“Chesapeake Shores” is a Daniel L. Paulson Production. Dan Paulson, Michael Berns, Nancey Silvers and Sherryl Woods are executive producers. Matt Drake serves as producer.
What do you think? Do you like the Chesapeake Shores TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a fourth season? Should season four be the end?
Please bring this show back gor a Season 5 and tie it up with Trace and Abby’s wedding. Anything less is a huge disappointment to fans who have been loyal for 4 seasons, and goes off course from the book series.
This show is great and great of families! It just came back and now you are ending it. I is ridiculous that it is only 6 episodes. This show is a wholesome, feel good show. There are so many other shows that could be cut, but this one should continue and not for only 6 episodes. You are really being unfair to your viewers. If these things continue like with this and when calls the heart, I will stop watching. Why start watching a series if you are not going to produce enough episodes or you are going to make… Read more »
I hate to see the season end. Six episodes were not enough.
Chesapeake shores is my favorite Hallmark series, it should have more episodes.
Renew for 5th season, please. The acting is superb and the storyline intriguing. I am disappointed that this 4th season has been curtailed. I had much rather see the Good Witch removed.
Really enjoying this season with my daughter, we are hoping for another season – family time
I love this show I look forward for Sunday nights to watch my favorite series.
Season. 4 having only 6 episodes is a real disappointment. We need Season 6.5. A movie will be nice but it is not the same as regularly looking forward to Sunday program delight. C’mon!
Oops should be Season 4.5 not 6.5
I cannot believe there are only 6 episodes of Chesapeake shores season 4. Why not a finale after the second episode? This is why you hear it isn’t worth watching a tv show any more. I grew up with 22 episodes a year. You didn’t forget the ending. Now you wait almost a year before the show continues and your suppose to remember where it left off. Let’s hope many do not have memory loss. If I was in charge of program development, I would make sure there were enough episodes of a show per season to remember by.
i am very disappointed this season 4 was cut short I love this series and want it to go on Please dont let it end. Would love to own dvds of this series.
I am sooooo disappointed that this season is cut to 6 episodes. It was just getting back to recovery from a year long hiatus. It is not enough.cut back on reruns of cookie cutter movies.
Love this series…hope for many more seasons…but more than just 6 episodes each season. Please contonue!
Hoping that Chesapeake Shores gets renewed for a Season 5! Please …
I love the story & look forward every Sunday night to watch this family story. This season was way too short. Please renew again for 10 episodes & another season. All my friends & family looked forward to it it weekly!!!!
I really love this show. With so many police shows on, this is a great show. Please dont cancel this show. Also Abby and Trace need to get back together. That is actually why I started watching the show.
Please do more than 6 episodes for a season. Really feel cheated. One of the best shows on Hallmark and yet it gets the shortest airings.
