Chicago Fire is ready to start season four on NBC later tonight, and fans of the series should expect some big drama right from the start. The start of the season four premiere will wrap up the loose ends left by the end of season three – Casey, played by Jesse Spencer, went missing and Dawson found a body in his apartment.
Since Chicago PD began its season in September, the wrap up of the Casey cliffhanger will be handled quickly. Casey is already shown back in action in a sneak peek released for the Chicago Fire episode titled “Let It Burn.”
Once the Casey drama is handled, fans will see two new faces join the family at Firehouse 51.
The first is the new lieutenant. Severide, played by Taylor Kinney, will lose his job, and someone from outside will be brought in. Brian White is joining the series as the new man in charge of the squad. Fans of Scandal will remember him as Olivia’s fling from last season.
The second new arrival is Steven R. McQueen. He is joining the series and the Firehouse 51 crew as the new candidate. He will not make a good impression on Chief Boden at first though. He is dropped off naked at the entrance to the firehouse. It is a prank by his brother. Boden kicks him out within seconds, but he will come back. Spoilers have teased that Casey will stand up for the new candidate.
McQueen has already teased that this new character is a departure from his previous television role. He starred on The Vampire Diaries for six seasons as Jeremy Gilbert. Another Vampire Diaries alum also stars on Chicago Fire. Taylor Kinney appeared in early episodes of the series.
Chicago Med has snatched up Torrey DeVitto, who appeared on The Vampire Diaries as well. That third entry into the Chicago franchise will premiere on NBC on November 17.
Dick Wolf has managed to create two strong series that overlap seamlessly. Chicago Fire is still the first, and it returns to lead the charge again.
