Chicago Fire, FBI, and Law & Order: SVU are just some of the series under the Dick Wolf label that have put a halt to their production due to concerns over the coronavirus. The shows were nearing wrap dates for their current seasons, but it looks like they will not start production again til next fall, per a Deadline report.
Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD all film in Chicago, and that city did have the first case of a TV staffer contracting the illness.
NBC said the following about the decision to shut down production on their programming in a statement:
“The safety and health of our cast, crew and employees is our top priority. Where possible, we are pausing production for two weeks as a precautionary measure, following which we will reassess and determine an appropriate start date. In some cases, we are accelerating plans to wrap up physical production.”
All three Chicago shows and Law & Order: SVU were all recently renewed for three more seasons. New Amsterdam, another series impacted by the production shut down, was also renewed for three seasons earlier this year.
What do you think? Are you surprised that the Dick Wolf family of shows have stopped production for the season? Is it a smart move by NBC Universal?
I definitely do agree that this measure had to be taken to keep the cast and crew safe and also give them time with their family to make sure there family is alright this is a crazy epidemic we’re going through right now and while yes law and order SVU is my top and number one favorite show for the past 21 seasons and I was sad to hear it was only a three season renewal but I did know that all good things must come to an end eventually you guys take care and we will see you in… Read more »
I’m applaud you in taking care of staff, actors and everyone including yourselves, this is some serious stuff, be safe and well!! See you in the fall…BLESS IT BE!!
I just want to say I love everyone Chicago pd I watch the show everyday, I love Law and order Svu don’t get me wrong I am glad its cancelled I want everyone on the shows to be safe and not get this.
It’s for the best! I do background work for the Chicago shows, so there are generally a large number of people on sets. I am an Entertainment Journalist and Autism Advocate as well. Most film premieres, concerts, etc., have been cancelled throughout the Chicagoland area.
I was in the middle of planning an Autism Awareness event for April, my son is on the Spectrum. Now, I will have to postpone it.
The health and safety of all members of each show including the production crews should be the priority .
Everyone needs to do their part. I love P.D
and both FBI series, but health and safety is utmost important. I will miss the shows but it’s well understood.
Way to go!! We’ll miss new episodes but health and safety come first!
Dick Wolf has some “precious cargo” so I applaud his action to give his cast and crew for his shows time to take care of themselves and their family.( COVID19 ain’t playin!) *Sending good white light healing vibes to all.*
We are sad to see that they had to end their seasons so close to their wraps being around the corners for each show.. but glad they are taking precautions.. am shocked they did not do a crossover of this ongoing issue .. but hopes if anyone got affected by it gets well soon and they all stay healthy and will be excited to see where our stories get picked up and take us too when they start back up again..
I would do the same your health and well being is number 1 be safe and stay healthy anita findlay of Michigan
Sorry to hear about counting down time on shows but understand. But don’t cancel them
I think it’s the correct and responsible thing to do. Thank you for caring more for their health than the money and ratings. God bless ❤
I think it’s bull **** all better not stop NCIS and the rest of them this is going to piss e everyone off
I’m really sad about my Chicago med and fire but I’m glad that people care about other people. Every one stay healthy
I applaud their efforts to protect their cast, crew, and staff. These are some of my favorite shows, so I do hope once the coronavirus crisis is over, they will resume production. I am keeping them all in my prayers.
I get why they are doing this and I truly hope we can get this all cleared up so go back and enjoy all our shows once a gain. Love all my shows.
