Procedural dramas are CBS’ bread and butter and they’ve had a lot of them that have enjoyed very long runs. Unfortunately, the two FBI spin-offs — FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International — were both cancelled last year. Now, the network has introduced the CIA series. Will this one enjoy a longer run than its predecessors? Will CIA be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A police procedural series, the CIA TV show was created by Dick Wolf and David Hudgins. A spin-off of the FBI series, it stars Tom Ellis, Nick Gehlfuss, Natalee Linez, and Necar Zadegan. Crossover characters are played by Jeremy Sisto, Missy Peregrym, and Alana de la Garza. When a by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Gehlfuss) is loaned out to a clandestine CIA/FBI task force, he finds himself teamed up with secretive and roguish CIA Agent Colin Glass (Ellis). Together they will work covert operations in New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells, and geopolitical secrets. Along the way, Bill learns the rules of this murky world on the fly as Colin leads him deeper into spy games where only one thing is clear — their work keeps America safe, even if no one will ever know what they did in the shadows. Other chracters Nikki Reynard (Zadegan), the Deputy Chief of the CIA’s New York station, and CIA analyst Gina Gosian (Linez).
Nielsen Ratings
The Nielsen ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances of survival. This chart is updated as new ratings data becomes available.
4/1 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.

What do you think? Do you like the CIA TV series on CBS? Are you glad it has been renewed for a second season?

I love the casting! The show is off to a slow start probably because of the change in direction. The writers need to do better. They have an amazing cast and the poor commnts are largely due to poor writing and directing.
I’m liking the show more and more as they are adding to Colin’s and Bill’s background stories and the overall who is the mole plot. The different spy stories per episode I really don’t care much about; as they get solved, last second, every episode, which I can’t find very exciting (same with other shows like FBI).
This show stands out because of the visibly good chemistry between it’s 2 leads and the fact it leaves room for jokes to lighten up the atmosphere.
Intrigued to see how this show will further develop.
Please renew CIA! Excellent casting!!
The concept of a CIA operative having to partner with an FBI agent is new and I love the juxtaposition of the two and how they work together. There’s so many threads to pull: Colin and that woman & young boy; Bill saying he doesn’t gamble anymore; Colin & Nikki’s history; Gina’s backstory…we must get a season 2!!!
I’m enjoying CIA. Each episode is getting better. I have watched all episodes.
I like this show so far. It’s getting better and better. I love Tom Ellis and I love Colin and Bill. I will continue watching the show.
I love CIA. The show is getting even better each week. The chemistry between Tom/Colin and Nick /Bill is great in this on screen and off screen. Now we only start to discover these two characters and I can see even more potential when both characters are established. To cancel the show now would be a big mistake. I really hope (along with many fans on social media) that CIA does not fall victim of nowadays cancel culture. Tom Ellis and Nick Gelfus have deserved to tell more interesting stories!!!
The first episode was ok but never judge a show just by the first episode the second episode was so much better than the first I love the partnership between Colin and bill and excited to see how it develops over time so definitely will be watching more honestly don’t believe the harsh reviews it’s a good show some people are just hard to please
I loved CIA with Tom Ellis as Collin and Nick as Bill. I think Collin and Bill will become great partners the 1st episode may have started out slow but I believe the second episode was more engaging. The catching of the female spy and getting over on Colin and Bill by eating the food she made but she drugged the water they drank. I am surprised they fell for that being they r CIA and FBI. Although Bill did worn them not to trust her. I loved Colin talking that young man down for blowing up the hospital and… Read more »
I did not like the CIA show at all. I bed the other FBI shows, especially Most Wanted. Dylan McDermott is a great actor. Very disappointed in CBS cancelling those 2. I do like the FBI, but not the CIA.
I think this show will develop and get more interesting with time as it builds from episode to episode.
I enjoyed the premise of the show so I’ll keep watching as the show finds its footing and core audience. Loved the team work between Colin, Bill, Gina and Keller as they tracked down the weapon. Will keep watching to see how they handle the mole plot.
You would think that introducing a new series they would write a relatively new script. CIA however went with a storyline that’s probably been used 100 times in just the past few years. Hopefully the writers will come up with something more original. If not it will be a short lived series for me.
I watched the first episode but probably won’t watch any others.
Didn’t care for the story or the cast.
I like all all my FBI SERIES
Will not watch cia
