Although Showtime TV series don’t have to woo ad buyers, they do have to please those customers who pay for subscriptions. To that end, this summer the premium cable network is offering up the City on a Hill TV show, a fictional American drama about a real problem which once bedeviled a very real American city. Will the viewers tune in and thirst for more, or toss it in the harbor like so much tea? Will City on a Hill be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A Showtime TV series, City on a Hill stars Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman, and Jill Hennessy. The story unfolds in 1990s Boston, when violent crime was overwhelming the city, and racist, corrupt law enforcement only made the problem worse. It centers on new Assistant District Attorney Decourcy Ward (Hodge), and his unlikely partnership with corrupt FBI Agent Jackie Rohr (Bacon).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
