Starz is saying goodbye to Counterpart. Deadline reports the network has cancelled the TV show after two seasons.
The sci-fi drama centers on a low-level bureaucrat, Howard Silk (J.K. Simmons), who toils away in relative obscurity at a United Nations spy outfit based in Berlin, Germany. The cast also includes Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Nicholas Pinnock, Nazanin Boniadi, and Sara Serraiocco.
A Look at the Ratings:
It’s not entirely surprising that Starz has cancelled Counterpart. The series has taken a major dip in the ratings during it second season. So far, the show is earning an average rating of .04 in the 18-49 demo and only 225,00 viewers. That’s a nearly 50% drop in the ratings since season one.
However, while Counterpart won’t continue on Starz, there is still some hope for fans. According to Deadline, the show’s producer is shopping it around to other networks.
What do you think? Have you seen Counterpart? Do you want a third season?
Yes!! We’ve enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 very much. Please renew! Would watch on another network. Hoping someone will pick it up if Starz cancels it. Thank you
This is by far One of the SMARTEST and Best shows on TV..absolutely shocked and dismayed they would cancel this great show!?! Doesn’t make any sense…perhaps some better advertising/promotion so that people unfamiliar can actually find it! REALLY BAD MOVE BY STARZ TO NOT PICK UP SEASON3/4..hope shows finds a new network ASAP ! What’s the point in having Starz if their best original series gets tossed after Season 2…
The show is a bit confusing at times, but has an interesting story line. Sorry to see it end prematurely.
sorry on the last word stupid!
stupid! stupid! stupif!
Cancelling Counterpart is all the motivation I needed to cancel my subscription to Starz which I pay thru Spectrum. Will miss Outlander, but nothing else. Done with Starz!
Great show why would they cxl???
This is such a great show. Very disappointed in STARZ
I have seen every episode of Counterpart 1 and Sunday will be all of 2, and to think it isn’t coming back for a third season just angers me. I love that show.
How can Stars do this to all the fans of
Howard Silk and Counterpart.
Please bring it back.
Most in that demographic like to binge watch. So after the season ends and it’s available on Vudu or Hulu or Netflix, ……. It will be watched. Some college students do in one day on the weekends.
Big problem with this show is that it’s not populated by skinny twenty/thirty-something wannabes, but accomplished actors; as such it doesn’t attract that demographic in the high numbers that would guarantee a continuation. Basically, too good for it’s own good.
If the live ratings were the concern, why was Counterpart s2 episodes available Sunday for early viewing on steaming services & cable on demand BEFORE the live viewing at 9pm? I think Starz never planned to renew regardless of what the live ratings were.
You don’t show an episode for almost 12 hours straight. That’s how you destroy any chance of real ratings. That’s what they did with episode 9. That’s what they have done practically every single week. People who run Starz are idiots. That’s not name calling. That’s telling the truth. This was a great show, and nobody is picking it up.
Yes. Want a third season. And many more seasons after that. Starz really let us down. Their American Gods looks stupid!
Interesting story line. Would like to see where they take season 3.
