A day before the network’s official upfront presentation for advertisers, CBS has cancelled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. The spin-off will end after just one season.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior follows a highly-trained team of agents who operate within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). They use unique and hard-hitting tactics to bring down some of the country’s most dangerous felons. The TV series stars Forest Whitaker, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Kelly, Beau Garrett, Matt Ryan, and Kirsten Vangsness.
While spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles got off to an immediate great start back in 2009, the same can’t be said for CBS’ latest spin-off, Suspect Behavior. In February, it debuted to a 3.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 13.06 million viewers. That was a solid start but then the second episode dropped 27% to a 2.4 rating and 9.8 million. By the fourth episode, it had fallen to a 2.2 demo rating.

The ratings have gone up and down a bit over the course of the season but has gone as low as a 2.1 in the demo a couple times. It currently averages a 2.4 rating and 9.84 million viewers, more than a whole point below its lead-in and parent series, Criminal Minds. Those numbers put it squarely on the bubble for renewal.
There was talk about bringing Suspect Behavior back for another round, possibly after doing a revamp, but the network’s decided against it. They likely have other procedurals waiting in the wings that believe can do better so CBS has cancelled Suspect Behavior after one season.
A baker’s dozen of episodes have been produced and so far, 11 of them have aired. The remaining two are expected to run tomorrow and next Wednesday night, May 25th, as previously scheduled.
The series finale is called “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and finds the team tracking a serial killer who randomly shoots people in crowded areas.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think this one didn’t catch on?

Needs to come back. Don’t leave us hanging. Great show
I got rid of my cable because of companies like this. Most of the series I used to watch are being replaced with reality crap. I just get Amazon, Netflix and other online streaming channels and watch what “I” want when I want. Too bad this is another great show ripped from existence.
Love the cast dynamics – guess it’s too intellectual for the reality tv am I’d and voice crowd! Some of us like to think. Bring it back!!!!!
There needs to be a season 2! I want to know what happened to jeanine!
BRING IT BACK!!!!! HUGE FAN OF ALL THE CRIMINAL MINDS GANGS!!! BEST SHOW!
Suspect Behavior should be brought back. It provided a unique concept of the rapid deployment of Cooper’s team with a well diversified cast of characters. I watch the reruns all the time wishing, wanting and urning for more. Please bring CRIMINAL MINDS SUSPECT BEHAVIOR BACK
Bring it back please, one of the best shows that was on television. Please, would love to see the continued episode, bring it back!!!!!!!!!
Just what the hell!!!! You’ve got to be kidding me! There should be a Season 2 for Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior because this show is a dope! I’ve been looking forward for Season 2 coz of “To be Continued” and all you’ve got is nothing?! Dafuq!
The season 1 last episode said to be continued, why not continue it when it says that? I want to know if Beth was the one to be shot or the victim.
So upset there is no season 2 BRING IT BACK!!!
I think that there should be a Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior Season 2 or at least a miniseries to close the cliff hanger. I was not aware that there even was a Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior until it showed up in syndication on ION+, which is channel 26 here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I definitely would have watched Suspect Behavior because I love watching Criminal Minds! I believe the reason that the 18-49 demographic was low because CBS did not promote it very well! I have asked several of my friends if they had watched or heard of it and… Read more »
I just finished season 1 on Netflix, it was great. Now I’m truly sad there won’t be a season 2
I’m a Criminal Minds addict. When I ran out of episodes I was glad to binge watch the entire Suspect Behavior season. I the producers should give it a second chance-try another 6 episodes and see what happens. I’d love to see how the last episode resolves.
The show needs one “chemistry tweak” in the team They might have been on the right track with “the head of the FBI” and Whitaker-but he was the wrong character. Maybe a different team member, I don’t know. But the series is close to being a hit. I think it’s solvable.
I’m not a writer, but many of the lines in the show sounded like something I would write, badly written. That, or they were poorly delivered. It was painful to watch sometimes.
I loved it just binge watched the whole season on Netflix everybody needs to reach out to Netflix to bring the show back they’ve got the resources to do it there needs to be more of this show……
I just finished the season 1 finale on Netflix and it was a “to be continued…” type of end so I’m furious there is no season two…
I agree with you Annie!! Why end a series with “To Be Continued,” when the show is not going to be continued? I just asked for a miniseries or 6 more episodes to find out what happens, how the team deals with this situation and possible loss of a beloved teammate, and what Forest Whitaker’s character was doing when he was “missing in action.” If Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior didn’t show up on my “Scheduled Recordings,” I would have never known that CBS tried to make a spinoff of Criminal Minds. :'(
No season 2
