Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
Can’t believe this show was cancelled.. Would really like to get the DVDs..
Interesting how ABC repeats the same Grey’s Anatomy episode later in the week, yet can’t give Day Break another time slot/ another chance. This is just another example of their illogical decision making. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
its BRILLIANT show! don’t you think those company are cancelling all those good shows all the time and putting on stupid shows ( AKA reality shows. COME ON WE ARE SICK OF REALITY SHOWS!! ) Luckily I think we are showing the whole season of Day Break in New Zealand. But please put it on DVD too!
I agree. I couldn’t wait 2 c how everything was being pieced together.Maybe because of the “Lost” fans taking a break from tv, for the fact that they didn’t want a replacement series, that this show didn’t get the support it needed. Plus the fact we were going into the holidays.Maybe give us a second chance?
I thought it was an awesome show!! Really well made and riveting. I cannot believe that it was pulled!! It is a crying shame. I thought Taye Diggs was fabulous! Please bring it back!!!!!
I was wondering what happened to the show. I kept looking for it but never heard it was canceled. I finally researched here on the web to discover it was pulled before it was given a fair chance to succeed (as some really bad shows of the past have been given!). Would really like to see it given another chance (although I see Diggs has already moved on to an upcoming ABC show). How is it that one show can’t be fit into the line-up, but then new shows arrive after the fact?
yo u better put that show back on
Fantastic show – although wondered why it was on Bravo in the UK – Anyhow lets hope they don’t pull the plug on it as it has been a thrill ride so far – intelligently written and great casting all round… Mitch Pileggi seems to get in all my favourite programmes : X-files, Stargate Atlantis – good to see him in this! etc..
loved the show, one of the great ones!better than some of the other high rating hows.please make another season
This show had me on the edge of my seat from the 1st scene. I just discovered the 7 “lost” episodes and will be watching them in short order. I think the downfall of this show, as with many other great ones, is the lack of effort go get the message out there. (how many Lost recaps have they aired?). Bring it back and promote it…it’s a great story.
This show was amazing!!!
I just saw the remaining episodes of Daybreak this week. I was riveted! The best written show to come out in ages. What is wrong with ABC? Excellent cast, excellent plot. Want it back for another season! Wish I knew the appropriate person to write at ABC about this. The thing is Taye did such an excellent job and he probably felt so bad it was cancelled.
I do not generally watch primetime TV, or major networks, but this series had me hooked. I would definitely watch any future episodes. Make them!
I just watched every episode online. I had never heard of it (therefore the complete lack of marketing was why no one watched). This is seriously one of the top shows I have ever seen. Please revive it!!!!!!
Release the DVD!
