Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
Awesome show… watched it while I worked on my computer. Would definitely buy DVD.
Hi Network People & Taye Diggs! I think the concept for DAYBREAK is brilliant & I watch it avidly in the UK.
I would like to see another season so please give it a chance & do not cancel it.
Thank you.
Please show us the ending!!
Why bother getting interested in TV programming if shows get cut after a few episodes. You look forward to it and it’s gone. Or you watch and then for a month it’s reruns. Maybe e should stop watching stations that do this in protest?
I really enjoyed watching the show. I would like Mr. Diggs to get a fair chance by reairing his show. Daybreak
I know it probably won’t matter, but the show was very good and it would be nice to see it on DVD. Also, it would be nice to see a second round. Still some loose ends to be solved! Anywhere out there that has theories on different things posted?
PLEASE RELEASE THE DVD!
I loved Daybreak! It was one of the best new shows last season. I can’t believe they cited low ratings. Everyone I know was watching it. And now I am haunted by the memories. I need to know- what happened? I need to know! Please release all 13 episodes to DVD. Please please please.
Please, bring it back!
It was a great show like the people said above most people didnt get to see it because ‘lost’ fans were taking a break from tv, but what abc should have did was put it on another time an day so that lost fans wouldn’t think that daybreak was trying to take over their spot. abc could give it another shot with all the other stuff they show on tv its time for something more exciting to look at, or at least put it on dvd.
Bring back Daybreak!
i thought it was a great show! but like always, the networks would rather show b.s. rather than show something people will actually watch! so i’m all for a new season and/or at least a dvd
OMG! I know so many people who was watching Day Break.. and then it disappeared. If people are still after months of it being gone wanting it back you all should REALLY consider bringing it BACK!!!!
This Show should have been put out there better. The Promos for the show sucked. The major reason why people did not watch it was because people thought it was groundhogs day. This is one of the most intelligently well written shows I hae ever watched. I wish I would have taken the time to actually give the show a chance before it got canceled. Thumbs Down to ABC for a terrible deciesion.
I just discovered that DAYBREAK was cancelled thought maybe I dvr didn’t record MAKES ME MAD! Please put it on DVD’s!!!!!!!!!
This show is the dogs bollocks, I am a viewer from England who has to download it, but it’s worth the time and trouble, would love to see a second series or even a t.v movie!!!!
