Let’s not fool ourselves. The Deception TV show has been cancelled by ABC after just one season. The mid-season replacement made its debut on March 11, 2018, but even smoke and mirrors couldn’t disguise its lackluster Nielsen ratings performance.
An ABC crime drama from creator Chris Fedak, Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as illusionist Cameron Black, with Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins, and Vinnie Jones. Cameron is rocketing to the top, when scandal derails his show and his twin’s life. Now, this magician uses his tradecraft to help the Feds apprehend some of the most elusive criminals in the world and hopes to prove his brother, Jonathan (Cutmore-Scott), is an innocent man.
Jack Cutmore-Scott is an appealing actor. So far though, it seems he hasn’t found just the right vehicle. This is his second series in as many years not to survive past its freshman outing. Fox cancelled his comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life after just one season in 2016.

In total, there were four single-season dramas on the Alphabet’s chopping block today: Marvel’s Inhumans, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Crossing, and Deception.
Variety has confirmed the Deception cancellation.

This was a damn good show, I’m still holding out hope that another network will pick it up. Pretty pissed at ABC right now tbh.
This is a great show that deserves another chance. Advertise the show and give the audience a chance to catch on. ABC, please give the show another chance.
Love Deception! Fresh concept, appealing characters and the storylines were good. ABC has cancelled shows with a lot of promise before. This one seemed like a keeper. Give the audience a chance to catch on. I didn’t discover Deception until its 4th or 5th episode. Come On ABC, take a chance on a second season.
Really wish they keep this show or another network picks it up it was one of my new favorite shows
One of the commenters on here said there was a Change.org Petition to save Deception from being cancelled. I went to Change.org and found (2) different petitions you can sign to bring Deception back or have it picked up by Netflix. Listed below are the links to the (2) different petitions. One of the best shows. Typical of ABC to keep rotten shows & get rid of the ones worth watching.
I loved Deception! It was a great TV show. It was fun and interesting. It had a good cast with different unique personalities. It was different from the other shows out there right now. Of course they canceled it. They always cancel the good TV shows and keep the bad ones. The head honchos in these TV Studios never listen to the people to ask them what they like. This is a good show for everyone to watch it should not be cancelled. It is different than most shows and that makes it fun to watch
This was good show! It was actually something I could watch with my kids & we loved it. Sad to see it go. Quality tv is too hard to find these days. This gets cancelled but I had to suffer thru all those Bachelor/Bachelorette commercials. ♀️
Loved Deception! So disappointed that it was cancelled. It was a good show that kept your interest and had great story lines. Refreshing and new concept instead of the same of more of another type of show. Wish they would have tried another season, a different time slot or another channel,would pick it up!!
I am very disappointed to hear that Deception was canceled. Granted, Cam and Kay had absolutely no chemistry, but than again, I don’t know if they should. It was very pleasant to watch.
How disappointing! It’s nice to have a clean, lighthearted comedy. I really wish they’d try it for one more season and see if it picks up.
