Let’s not fool ourselves. The Deception TV show has been cancelled by ABC after just one season. The mid-season replacement made its debut on March 11, 2018, but even smoke and mirrors couldn’t disguise its lackluster Nielsen ratings performance.
An ABC crime drama from creator Chris Fedak, Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as illusionist Cameron Black, with Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins, and Vinnie Jones. Cameron is rocketing to the top, when scandal derails his show and his twin’s life. Now, this magician uses his tradecraft to help the Feds apprehend some of the most elusive criminals in the world and hopes to prove his brother, Jonathan (Cutmore-Scott), is an innocent man.
Jack Cutmore-Scott is an appealing actor. So far though, it seems he hasn’t found just the right vehicle. This is his second series in as many years not to survive past its freshman outing. Fox cancelled his comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life after just one season in 2016.

In total, there were four single-season dramas on the Alphabet’s chopping block today: Marvel’s Inhumans, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Crossing, and Deception.
Variety has confirmed the Deception cancellation.

Deception is a great show, the sub plot is good. Unlike other shows that are airing, like insident. Which is the same each week. Bring Deception back for a season 2.
Deception really grew on us this season. We really hoped ABC would catch on to its improvement and renew it. “Kay” needs some acting lessons but other than that very clever!!!
ABC needs to reverse their decision to cancel this show. Advertise it and the ratings will increase.
My husband and I loved this show. anlong with the clever storyline we loved the magic! Please reconsider. Maybe try a new day and time?
This was an excellent show… love the “magic and deception”. The plot is intriguing and need to have a conclusion. Love the the notion of the FBI having a ‘Deception Group’. Bad Decision!

What do major networks have against programs people DVR and look forward to watching? Deception holds our attention and that’s more than some that have been renewed time and again. I would certainly miss it. Oh, and I’m thinking the season ends, leaving viewers to create there own entertainment.
I love this show. It’s different and refreshing and the cast is awesome! Too good a show to be cancelled.
I am sorry but abc has there head in the wrong place. Deception is a really good show I think the bosses are a poor excuse for management. The cast is wonderful and the stories are great.
I love this show! It was one of the few shows that go my 2 teenage kids to sit down and watch. Great cast and the plot line always has us on the edge of our seats. Would love to see another season.

I have not missed an episode. I find this series to be well-written with unexpected twists and turns. Very different from the usual garbage reality shows that the networks insist on broadcasting.
It grew on my wife and me we enjoy the show.
Love this show. Great Cast. With the way the world is going it’s nice to Excape into something that takes you away from every day life. Please keep it and give it another chance. Maybe more advertising so more people know about the show.
